audio confusion

I'm looking for a new head unit for my bravo. Not really interested in a sub, a changer or an amp but looking for a really good cd head unit for around £200-250.

Anything you would recommend?

do you want pretty lights or a nice unit?

for pretty lights i'd go for kenwood or sony, for a nice functional unit i'd go for blaupunkt. I have panasonic (although about 4 years old) its a nice unit, works well, maybe a little flat on the bass but that can be adjusted. JVC also sound nice especially the budget hu range. A friend has a jvc cd hu that cost him about £130 from argos and it sounds great in his astra with standard speakers.

I'd agree with TAFI, Apline units are supurb for the money, packed with loads of features. But there are a lot of other good ones out there.

You maybe better of spending about £150 for head-unit, and spending the other £100 on a decent set of components for you front doors.
