Hi guys new fiat owner here. I have a Fiat stilo 1.2 16v dinamic. I have the dreaded asr failure showing at startup. Took the car to a mecanic for wipers stopped working and told him to do a a full check. Car is in perfect order for a 2003 stilo as he said. The only issue is this asr failure error at startup followed by the light staying on. He had a tech look at it with a diagnostic program no issues free of charge. He told me he cannot pass the car for a MOT when it will be due because the asr light stays on and the warning message at start up. So my question is. Is there anyway to switch off this light/led and it's warning sound?? Would hate to scrap a perfect good car for a silly light. Thanks for you input

dunno it wassnt me but he said the techie used a fiat diagnostic program or smth like this

but is it true it can fail an MOT? Just for a light?

cheers man not what i was looking for. I will try some of the solutions in the old posts.

A safety system failure such as ABS or ASR is grounds for failure. This is ture even if the system was an option on the car. The failure is indicated by the light/message on the instrument cluster so this is a failure. In theory the MOT checker should ensure that the light comes on and then goes off again to prevent a bulb removal hiding the fault. As you have a message as well that won't work anyway.
MOT aside, an ASR failure could cause handling or braing issues so you should get it fixed. A Fiat specfic diagnostic reader (Examiner, Multiecuscan AlfaOBD) will tell you what the system thinks is wrong. If there is a failure light there will be associated codes stored.

Could be nothing at all wrong with abs/asr. Loss of communication during cranking. Try a bigger battery from another car or put jump leads to another car see if it cures it.

Hi I had the asr /abs failure on my car turned out the be a nakered front drivers bearing also the abs ring was badly dirty causing a non read on the sensor
