Are clear side repeaters classed as mods

Hi All,

Phoned my insurance company, Churchill, about putting side skirts on my Bravo. They said 'not a chance mate' any mod that wasn't factory fitted would invalidate my insurance and they don't insure modded cars anyway. Do you think this goes as far as clear repeaters? I haven't got any yet but they were the first thing I wanted to change.

Conrad,

Anything (yes, anything) that you add to a car that differs from the factory spec is classed as a mod.

Some insurers dont bother with cosmetic mods, others do.

Better safe than sorry though.

I phoned my insurance company and I told them about my mods.

Quickshift Air Filter
Straight through exhaust system
ECU remap
17" 5 spoke Alloys
-35mm Lowering springs
Front Abarth bumper
Tinted Windows
Short Ratio Punto Gearbox.

My insurance premium went up a total of £0.

Get insured with LiverpoolVictoria.

and I'm only 18.

Do yourself a favour mate, ditch Churchill...

If you so much as fart in the car and don't tell them, they'll invalidate your insurance... and God forbid you should have an accident, they will spend 3 times longer than the repair takes inspecting your car for undeclared mods, and any repair they do will be substandard and outweighed by the other damage THEY Cause !!!!

(You might guess they're not my favourite insurer ;))

I went with Churchill as they gave me the best quote on my Mk2 Astra Belmont, didn't really consider modding that thing, a 1.3 hauling a whale shaped body. Thinking about it now, it prob needed modding more than my Bravo ever does. Renewal is in August, guess I'll shop around and ask the right questions.

Respect most definitely due to this guy!

I've been driving on a company car policy for the last 5 years and in that time have accrued 3 lots of speeding endorsements, nothing special just fixed penalties. Anyway, lots of insurance companies have tried to stiff me on that basis, one of which (AXA) said that as I had had 3 endorsements, they would be unwilling to accept my 5 years no claims letter ?!?!?!?!

Anyway, just rang Liverpool Victoria after getting a good online quote for a HLX 1.8 (370 odd quid), mentioned my company car letter, fine they will accept that. Also mentioned my 3 speeding endorsements, said they don't care about speeding endorsements so long as you have never been banned. Woohoo! But it gets better, mentioned the 17" alloys on the model I am looking at buying and again, no extra cost!

Guess who I'll be insuring with :))))
