Anyone Got 1 Of These Head Units SONY MEX-5DI Or Similar In Their Car & What Are The Pros & Cons & Also Does It Hit The Bottom Of The Fascia?

you will have to adapt a facsia to bring the head unit forward
this does give one advantage, shed loads of room for wires behind the HU, i`ve got phonos for the sub, phonos and control lead for a changer with loads of space no probs

How Difficult Is It To Adapt The Fascia? How2? & Tips?

I think I'm right in saying this is not face-off, where do you park your car? I was looking at one of these as in the flesh they are awesome, but where i wotk and have to park it would last about half an hour

my brothers got one in his scooby and you get a crappy cove to try and make it look liek an ashtray! not sure how well it works! lol

kev, put it this way, tom called me the P38 abuser!
basically i sat a radio cage (the metal frame thing) in an adapter fascia(glueud in), forward enough so the face`s drop (19mm) would clear when opened,
then built it up with filler and faired it all in to look half decent!

I used nearly a litre of P38 (you know the body filler suff) on the radio fascia

D'Oh!! i was on a different planet! lol. you just used bodyfiller to smooth it then? what paint did you use? my cd player wont go all the way in because of the cables. I only need about a half inch. I've not forced it in, because it gets very hot at the back, and i'd just as soon try what you did, as set my car on fire, lol.
Actually, i might just do the whole centre console silver...hmm...

@ light warriour - yeah blended it with filler, but the cage is glued in with sikaflex (spelling correct!)

sikaflex is the rubbery glue stuff yeah? thats what the skirts are stuck on with, and the mesh too now that i think about it.

nope started friday night about 7ish stopped at 11ish,
final spray first thing sat morning, fit at lunchtime,
it seems strong enough its been in there about six months with no probs, and the radio been in and out a bit, between different cars and wiring in the cd changer,

ok, got a small tin of P40 this afternoon, and another sameisized tin of P38. Bought a 300ml tin of grey primer from Halfords, and another of Fiat Black. Also got a 3rd tin (of black) for free.
Just realised i forgot to get the bloody sikaflex stuff, although to be honest i dont remember see-ing it.
I'm needing to do the same as you, except not quite as far out. i'll fill it all in with the fibreglass one, then use the P38 afterwards. Should i get the sikaflex tomorrow or can i do it without? Its just incase the metal cage flexes and becomes either too tight, or loose.
I know its gonna look a bit mad in shiny black, so i might have to tackle the whole centre console although i'll just leave that till after winter if i do.
