General Anyone Tried the new 500e Yet?

I'm nearly interested, not sure if the range is quite there, I think a claimed 250 would clinch it, if the 3+1 versions come to the UK.

Just wondering what people think of it

Our automotive press seem to love it, so it must be good.

It does look pricey for a small Fiat, but actually it compares very favourably with rivals like the Honda E, which travels less distance on a full charge.

If they had a model equivalent to the Sport or the Abarth 595 I'd consider it actually. I'm hoping at least an Abarth version will follow, as the current range does lean even closer to being female centric than the combustion version, added to by quite a narrow choice of unusually 'quiet' paint shades for Fiat. Good car though, no doubt.

My heart is saying go for an Abarth again, we have a Tipo at the moment, only this time the Abarth will a Comp. (I've had four "normal" ones)

Last chance to have a combustion car, so may as well go for something crazy!

You know it must be decent if our motoring press like it as they usually knock at least one star off the rating for it being Italian.

I have a Tipo at the moment too and almost bought an Abarth at the time. I test drove a Turismo (160bhp) and if it weren't for the lack of noise insulation I'd probably have had it. I like the engine noise but foresaw the road noise grating on the typical long motorway journeys I did. However if I'd known how much my mileage was to reduce because of Covid restrictions I'd have still bought it and saved on the monthly payments vs the Tipo. Live and learn.

I do love the little Abarth still, but I've got a motorbike so I figured I can have my giggles on that and make more laid back progress in the Tipo. The Tipo has been a good car though so I can't knock it. Looks decent in S Design trim and Street Grey and engine is the same T-Jet unit as the Abarth too. Won't get another though as they've dropped the S Design & only offer a 1.0 engine with 100bhp (mine's 120bhp). Shame.

She has no interest in it.
Yeah la prima. Drives really well- very very light steering and surprisingly nippy.
Range- well I fully charged it last night and it’s showing a range of 161 miles from 100% charge, but the car only has 126 miles on it and I’ve been booting it everywhere so have to expect that.

I will be working from home soon so my mileage will literally be school run and one "long" trip of 200 miles a year.

Sounds like it could be ideal then. The test in Auto Express against the Honda E and Mini Electric said the 500 was much better on motorway journeys than its size would have you believe. Given the decent battery range too, it could be fine for the occasional long trip.

The Action entry model with smaller battery is good for using solely round town but as you mention, the infotainment situation isn't great, so Passion with bigger battery and proper touchscreen is worth the extra. Icon & La Prima have some genuine 'big car' equipment, but Passion has most things I'd want apart from alloy wheels, which i imagine can be had as an option.

The prices are seen as high for Fiat, but compared to the competition they look reasonable so I don't know if there's deals to be had, unless you have access to the Affinity scheme (NHS, Police & other eligible FCA partner organisations)? Due to its breadth of talent Vs the competition and keen pricing, I imagine residuals will be strong, which should help the monthly finance rates.

I've looked on Blue Light Card (Syntner and Motofinity), but they either only offer the smaller battery variant or are more expensive for leasing.

I will take a look at the "offers" under my local federation recreation association and see what they have, otherwise, where do I find this affinity scheme?

I qualify via The AROC, you have to be a member for 6 months, I have been since 2004, even though I've not had an Alfa since 2012.....

I didn't think I was speaking 1950s either. I was born in the 80s. I'm also a member of the LGBT community, so don't even think about picking holes in my post as a way to further some politically correct agenda.

No digging needed here. You either don't understand a pretty clear comment or you're deliberately seeking an issue which doesn't exist. I simplified the language but you still want to make an issue, although I don't for a moment think you genuinely didn't understand my original comment, so that's your problem - my number of posts and number of 'Thanks' over many years on this forum speak for themselves, so I'm not going to accept advice from someone who has appeared to make snide comments in a number of their (very small amounts of) posts.

A couple of points. I am allowed to read lots and comment little - generally sticking to commenting when I have something to give, and not being as technical as many that is very much limited to my own experience; and I very much thank the forums for the help it has given me in understanding and fixing problems. Snide - I can’t think of any snide comments i’ve made, and if I have distressed anyone I now apologise. Am I deliberately creating an issue - perhaps you see it that way; I see it as calling out people’s bigotry and dated stereotypes. I suspect we’ll never be best friends.
