i remeber a link to an alfa forum where they had super chargered them and that they can be fitted to a hgt, anyone know where this link is again?

also, can you fit a wastegate to a supercharger?

cheers

I'd recomend you read up on how superchargers work first ;) A wastegate cannot be fitted to a supercharger as a supercharger has no exhaust turbine :)

The Alfa was a 4cly. Anything can be fitted to anything if you are prepared to make up the required pipework and do the required tuning.

Online translated...

It is the volumetric compressor that the turbocompressore, generates power increment forcing one denser aria/carburante mixture in the combustion chamber of the motor. The turbocompressori are set in action to you from exhaust gaseses and use a centrifugal compressor in order to pressurize the feeding culvert. Since the operation is bound to the energy produced from exhaust gaseses, I upset are relatively little efficient to the low regimes and in light cargo conditions, when that is the flow of exhaust gaseses is minimal. When the energy comes embezzled to the drainage, an increase of the "counterpressure" and the temperature is generated, that it stretches to make to diminish the theoretical power of the motor. Since a turbocompressore does not begin to produce pressure until when it does not come invested from a sufficient exhaust gases amount, the motors I upset have an answer delay (I upset Lag) when it is wanted to be accelerated from low regimes. You press the accelerator... e waited for.

Compressori EATON are set in action to you to strap from the drive shaft directly. This means that the pressure will be available also when the accelerator will come opened wide to low regimes of turns. You press the accelerator and the answer will be instantaneous, and without the tremendous increase of temperatures in the motor, characteristic space of a motor I upset. The brace engine will come raised along all the operating arc of the motor, with the result of better performances to whichever speed and in every march.

The eaton M45 on the bini is about on its limit doing 163BHP on a 1600CC engine. The reason so many are for sale is the works upgrade pack replaces it with a bigger unit thats not as poo.

surely the increase is directly proportion though? the percentage increase in bhp from the standard cooper to the cooper S would be the sme if i styrapped it to a hgt?no?

I understand how super chargers work but if they increase pressure then surly they can make a dump valve work?

Dump valve or wastegate? Make up your mind ;)

It will produce less boost on a larger engine so less power increase.

You CAN fit a dump valve but it would have to be a diesel type and they give no gains at all on superchargers. You also won't get the same woosh noise as the supercharger will spool down at exactly the same speed as the engine and the boost pressure drops VERY quickly, unlike a turbo which keeps spinning.

Even though i agree with everything you have said...even though i hate you for it ;)
