hi guys,
does anyone know what the grey contact in the offside boot of a stilo abarth 5dr it isnt atached to anything but near the orange airbag connector surely it should be attached to something!

Not necessarily. Cars are often wired generically, but certain features are not fitted in some markets (in your case reversing sensors, for example).

I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you what that particular lead is intended for.

Single core wire on its own?

If so its towbar live feed for bypass relay.

Hello Most Easterly Pandas, How sure are you about this wire? are you a fiat tech/auto spark?, its just that...

I have a 1.4, 04 plate Stilo Active and I have this wire but mine is red, its behind the os rear light. It is permanent live. I have checked the manual and it says fuse 36 is for Trailer Control Unit, Took this fuse out and it goes dead!

This wire although it has 20amp fuse doesnt look very thick, all the other posts on here about trailer wiring say you need a good thick healthly cable because a trailer can take upto 100 watts or more if it has a high level brake light.

This would be ideal for me if it is definately for that, I have been desperately trying to feed a permanent live direct from the battery for my bypass relay without sucess because I cant find a way through the bulkhead :bang:

You've exactly the same car as me (04 Active A/C).

This red wire on ours is indeed for the trailer feed. I believe it might be a different colour depending upon the vehicle age (hence asking if it was single core to OP).

I've used the feed for my 7-way bypass relay. I too thought the wire didn't look as heavy duty as it could have, but all seems to be ok so far.

Said wire and bypass relay (y)
