I was looking into getting this done next year, from that nuova500shop.com, but it looks like they don't do the 1.2 ECU upgrade now, its been taken from their website. (n)

actually I was hoping for some interesting comment as Im getting the 1.2 and theres been lots of talk about remapping the 1.3 diesel! didnt mean any offence over the spelling!

re search companies, never trust one that offers gains with no way of showing you, always use a place with a rolling road and people who write their own maps

you could also search the forum for re map. the engines in the 500 have all been used for a number of years in other fiats, so peoples experiences will be the same

This remapping talk always degenerates into which company is good and which isnt, then arguing starts and it gets nasty. Please, can this now stop... we know RobW works for Angel Tuning/Nuovashop so any post from him will be biased, all Im saying is do a search for those companies on here and make your own minds up.
Good luck finding a company to do what you want.

I honestly thought that remapping anything that doesnt have a turbo was pretty much a waste of time if your after power increases. I can see there there may some driveability improvemnts but only if the standard settings can be improved on.

With the diesel you can adjust the boost setting so you get more total torque and a different torque curve with rpm so it feels more impressive when accelerating.

:yeahthat: TOTAL waste of time remapping a 1.2 as you will gain virtually nothing (anything you do gain will be in your head) especially if the rest of the car remains standard (exhaust etc). If you must do something then stick some decent quality fuel in it and maybe a better quality air filter. Will stop you loosing your warranty too :)

Turbo cars benefit greatly from boost increases. Diesels benefit mainly from increased fueling.

Seriously, save your money (or buy the 1.3 turbo diesel).

Totally agree with this.

The only way to significant power gains in a naturally aspirated small capacity petrol engine is with wild profile cams - which will make it awful to drive day-to-day.

remapping done well is not all about maximum figures as you don't drive along looking at dyno numbers

it's all about improving driveability and responsiveness, and may actually involve trading bhp for a greater spread of torque and improved mpg

back in the day when i had my diesel sportwagon RED DOT spent 2 hours tuning the throttle response as power is nothing without control, the car had been previously been OBD2 Millenium mapped and had the power to spin the wheels in the first 2 gears but it was almost undriveable

but yes if you want a quick 500 don't buy the 1.2

Personally I just dont get remapping and tuning, if you want a quick car then just buy one in the first place:) If you bought a 1.2 500 and feel you want a faster one then just buy the 1.4 and save all the aggro of tuning it... if the 1.4 isnt quick enough then get an Abarth and if thats not enough buy something else!
It really is that simple and easy.
