Just wondering wether anybody else is running a Uno 60D.
I have to say that mine has 161K miles. it does 110 miles every weekday taking me to work.
I got it nearly two yrs ago with 112K.
It is a fantastic motor. Looks very bad, runs great. does not break down, returns 55 MPG. Uses half a pint of oil between services. It has a radio and a heater. What more can you possibly want?
I realize it is not a very desireable model, but you gotta agree that for 150 Quid it is gives an excellent return.

Great deal!
I haven't seen an Uno Diesel in NZ and I only know about it from the handbook. I think there were actually three diesel engines; a 45bhp 1.3 (from the 127) which was probably best avoided, a turbocharged 1.3 that I think had about 75bhp (and I also think is a different engine to the non-turbo), and a 1.7 non-turbo which I'm guessing is the engine you have (about 60bhp).

Yours probably has good torque (more than the petrol 60, for certain) so I expect it doesn't matter too much what gear you're in around town?

Yeah plenty of torque. I usualy let the clutch out in first with hardly any revs, and in town third will usualy pull from near standing. the acceleration from 60 to 80 MPH is quite brisk considering the powerplant.
just got 437 miles from 34.5 litres of diesel which is a new record!
there is also a 1.9 diesel with about the same power output.

Some F**ker broke into it last night, ripped the steering coulomn off and broke the switch to bits. wrote it off for me for xmas.
Scrappy collecting it tomorrow.
One less Uno D. maybe the last one gone?

Hi,
Happy to see a Uno Diesel Friend , We India have thousands of Uno in India, our locality were I stay 'Mahe' in India has around 10 Uno Diesel, Indian version is 1.7 D overhead cam enigine, 57 BHP good torque arround 10KgM. I get a cool 20 KM/L mileage. It was sold in india till 2004 before the Fiat India has Cheated the Customers and Packed up.
Mine is 1999 November model.

Hi Everyone

Just found this old thread.....

Our Uno 60DS which we have owned from new has just passed the MOT..... again.....

Just needed the handbrake freeing off and one brake hose.

It's just turned 130,000 on the clock and still goes like a bird.

I put it down to the fact that I always religeously changed the engine oil every 4500 miles! (y)

I used to have one for about 4 months last year, the same 1.7 unit.

the torque that thing generates is incredible and probably one of the most efficient diesels ive driven.

My biggest crib about this car is the noisy engine, it sounds like a small truck.
