Hi there;

I've successfully(!) managed to get a replacement(tuned) chip of the HGT from a highly reputable tuning firm.

It is simply a 64K data on a 512 Eprom(No Copy protection or so ever..)

The point is while we were copying & transferring the data from the original chip we couldn't understand what extension does it have !

Unfortunately the chip copying device & the program was leaving the extension part to your choice.

It can be a .hex, .bin or something like that but that's not the most important issue...

The main question is; which program does Fiat is using to read, edit this chip data ?

Maybe Nigel can help us about the subject as he is running the angel tuning remap nearly for all models except HGT.

They sure using a windows based program but which one is it ?

I've tried to open & understand the chip data by giving it the .bin extension & let the Honda or Nissan tuning programs try to read it.

They did actually but the values on AFR, Timing and other stuff was nonsense...

Especially the Nissan program ZControlV2.0 managed to open it but the values were meaningless... (As you can easily guess..)

So, does anyone have any idea that which program can read, edit the data on a HGT chip ?

I really need that info Guys...

Cheers,

Boorock

Hmm.. highly reputable tuning firm and they don't know how to program it... Sorry, highly dubious.

If they have supplied you with an EPROM why do you need to copy it? Just replace the one in the ECU.

Surely the highly reputable tuning firm would be able to understand the data?

You can edit the data with any binary editor program, but making sense of the data is something totally different.

If I were you I'd find a new tuner and get a dastek/SMT6 fitted.

Missunderstanding...

Dear Tom,

I made the copy as a back up & trying to identify the datas, maps etc...

I can open the datas by WinOLS but I don't know about the identification.

The company knows what it is doing & programmed right, what I am doing is trying to have the back up & play with the datas on my PC...

If you succeed to find out which program (binary editor, hex editor) is Fiat using to read/edit the chip data that will be just marvelous...

Cheers,

Boorock

WinOLS is not designed for the Fiat HGT ECU. Even though many car makers use the same make ECU (Bosch etc..) does not mean the software is the same.

Bosch will write custom software for each car they build an ECU for.

Surely if you're tuner has changed the map they will know where it is, have you asked them?

Please keep this in one thread for ease of use

Copied from other post on same subject...

well if you read from a 512 Kbit eprom, and save it as a binary file (.bin) and the resulting file is 64K in size, then its most likely pure binary format. I dont know if fiat have a tuning program themselves (I doubt it). you could open that file with winOLS and see if it can find the maps but you would need to be able to identify them as it doesent tell you what they are..

Thanks Owen

I tried exactly your advice and you are right !

WinOLS did read the data as the binary (.BIN) but as you told, the maps & datas weren't identified...

I need to find out the Fiat version of this binary editor...

How the hell am I going to find it out ?

What is the chip number that you read? Does it plug into a daughter board or directly into the ECU socket?

I read the data but...

I do read the data on the chip...

It was pretty easy but my problem is totally different though.

The data (.BIN file) on the chip has to be opened, edited by a software which I am searching for...

I need a binary editor which should be the Fiat Version, as Tom stated.

The WinOLS can open, read and identify the datas as Bravo HGT Mk1 147 but I do NOT have a clue on the timing, fuel maps.

I am willing to play with the cut-off point, timings & AFR values by the Fuel Map.

Pls, use every source that you can reach & let's get the Fiat software for editing the data on the (.BIN) file !

I am sure that it is the most valuable secret of Fiat but it can be found :)

PS: There is no need to mention that I can share the raw data (ready to be written on the chip) with anyone :)

Chip No. & Board

Sorry J;

The original HGT Chip No is,

BOSCH 98
1037398301
03.3576.1

The Tuned HGT Chip has the following on it,

TI-20FML
TMS27PC512
BLX84A613P

Both are 7x9(legs) square chips & placed on a chip socket(bed) on the ECU Board.

I need to take the ECU out & open it to reach the Chip !

Hope that will help :)

And the following appears at the end of the chip data when I open it with any hex, bin editor !

TŸ€42/1/M2.104/9/110/DAMOS9//0903B5-S/170697

Cheers...

What year and model Bravo is the car?

As it has no daughter board that means that the dump you have is not encrypted data which is a very good start. As you have a raw dump of the bios file it should be easy to interpret the map the only problem is that the software I have to edit the maps is very expensive and is only licensed to run on a single machine, it also has a dongle box for protection so I cannot simply burn you a copy. However I would be interested to know if my software is able to edit the map as it works for the Fiat coupe 20VT but I have never tried a bravo any chance of sending over the bin file?

OK, the tuned chip is a Texus Instruments 512KB EPROM. Now I would like to know weather it's a PROM or EPROM. Does it have a glass window in the middle of the chip that is covered up by a sticker? Don't remove this sticker just feel for a slight bump.

What company wrote the map and what do they claim the increases are. eg +12BHP and increased the rev limit to 7000rpm

If you don't want to say in the open forum e-mail to [email protected]

No Problem...

No problem at all...

We sure can talk, disscuss the Bravo matters on public :)

I simply do NOT care about the Company!

My car is a 1998 Fiat Bravo 2.0 20v HGT Mk1 (147Bhp)

It is a PROM (No stickers or windows under it !)

The Company claim that it has a +12-15 Bhp with the rev limiter at 8.000rpm !

I sent the file to you, check your mail :)

PS: What is the software named, that you'r using ?
(Altough it is copyrighted & has a dongle at the USB, I do still like to have a copy...
Maybe I can find the cRAck for it !)

Why on earth would they raise the limiter to 8k? Its pointless and will add no power.

Find yourself a good tuner and get a dastek/SMT6 fitted and rolling road tuned. Stop messing about with trying to edit values in the ECU program. It will end in tears.

Well Tom I hope that's not directed at me as our engine mapper is out of this world when it comes to tuning. He has helped develop Noble's engine management systems. He works very closely with companies such as Rousch, DTA, Cosworth and has done F1 and Le Mans engines, so remapping a Bravo is a walk in the park for him.

What we are trying to achieve here is:
1) Read a base map off of a chip that we know the ID in this case TI.
2) Find a suitable software that is able to edit the map.
3) Stick the car on the rolling road and edit the map on the fly.
4) Find a suitable replacement BIOS chip that is re-writable.
5) Burn mapped file to EPROM chip.
6) Put chip in car and hey presto you have a mapped car to your engine spec.
If this can be achieved then there is no need for Unichip as it is the same.

As for the software it's not commercial so you will not find any sorts of cracked files floating around the net. Security on these types of data is practically impossible to bypass. Basically you insert the disc install it with a serial number you then have to phone a number and give your details which are on registration record to get another check key to unlock the program. The USB dongle must be connected in order to start the program. Once inside depending on the package type you brought USA, EUR, JAP or ALL is which cars you have access to. If you brought the JAP package as you mainly do JAP cars then when a FIAT is brought you will have to phone up a buy a one off licence to do that particular car. Then they will download the file to you via the net after payment has cleared. You then have 3 days to map the car until it runs out and ur back to ur original package again. I also tried to copy the DVD but it won't it's like that too is encrypted. My boss keeps everything under lock and key.
Anyhow I will check my mail and pass over the .bin file to our mapper and see if he can do anything

I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE:
A mate of mine may have a Fiat software that can edit this map he will be giving me a copy over the weekend will keep you posted.

You have Mail !

I've just sent you the ORG chip data & the Mod1 Chip Data so that you can make a correspondance.

Hope they will help :)

Cheers,

Boorock
