another problem :S, oil leak

after st andrews iv noticed a small oil stain under my car, when i park it some where new i get a new stain about 4cm square within 3 hours. not sure how bad this is. apears to be coming from the drive shaft? just above the clamp where exhasut pipe meats the flexible joint. dont know if its a big deal or not ?

Could just be a seal needing replaced. I'd check all the levels to see how bad the leak is as well as where it's coming from - it may not strictly be engine oil, could be a gearbox seal for example. If the leak's bad, you'll need to keep the levels topped up or not drive it unless you want something to go pop.

aye defo sounds like a seal. if it is it wont be too bad of a job. and cheap if you do it yourself

I had the same with mine, discovered the sump drain plug was slack, tightened it and hey presto

i changed the oil about 3 months ago so il check the sump plug. and have a wee look around the seals. thanks

Best bet is to wash the engine down then find the source. Its much easier when the whole thing isn't covered in oil.
