Well hello :)

I will come clean straight away, I am 16 at the moment but I'm 17 in December coming up but I have decided what car I want already but was just wondering you guys could tell me what to look out for e.g. problems etc
The car I want is a Fiat Cinquecento Sporting in Yellow.
Is there anything i should look out for when buying one and how much can i expect to pay insurance wise?

hello from me :D

to get some rough ideas on insurance, why not key in a few details on confused.com (y)

on your own insurance expect maybe quite a high figure :(, but dont go on our parents insurance if you are the main driver as this is illegal (n)

next door there is a lad to me, hes on his mums insurance. he has a 80bhp astra diesel (my cars more powerful :D), he does 20k a year, pays nearly £1500 a year for insurance, hes got no no claims bonus, i have nearly 2 years, im on my own insurance (6 months younger then him), for just over £1300 (y) - go figure what its like when he grows up and gets his own insurance

welcome to the forum mate, and good choice of first car (y)

going on your parents insurance is NOT illegal unless you are not the designated main driver... although as josh says, having your own NCB is a far better bet for the future.

I have decided that I want to have my own insurance, which is just aswell because when I asked the parents if I could go on theirs, the immediate reaction was "NO!" so I went on confused.com like suggested by "Joshua Frost-Lunn" and filled in all my details (car make, house details etc) and then it gave me a list of quotes.

The cheapest one I got was from a company called Yes Insurance.co.uk and they gave me a quote of £2068.12 a year fully comp.

Is this good?

its expensive, because the car you want has the word "sporting" in it's name.

for a punto 55 with the same engine, you would be paying about £1500 or less....

my advice to you, would to not be lazy, and use the phone, "direct" companies can and will give you better quotes over the phone (y)

dont forget pass plus (y)

wth regards to insurance, words like sporting/sxi (corsa i know - i had one), only add to the insurance sots as there seen as 'sporty cars'

whereas replaced with less sporty names with the same engine etc, they are often less
