I've just inherited a 59 reg Panda 1.1. Active ECO. It had been sitting in a car park for about 8 months, doing nothing while paperwork was sorted 250 miles from home.

My first idea was to get it valeted, checked out and sold. I didn't think a car with a quarter of the power of my current car was going to be much fun, so I wasn't keen to make the 500 mile trip to collect it. Then I changed my mind.....

£30 tax, £120 insurance, a lot cheaper than my current car.

So went to collect it. Cleaned the windows, checked the tyres, oil and brakes, and off I went, didn't even need the jump leads:)

1st stop, fill up, less than £50 from nearly empty, I'm liking this!

Head off up the M6 towards Cumbria, indicated 80mph or so no problem.

Needs some severe persuasion to get up the steep hills and mountains, but gets there without drama.

I get home grinning, I'd forgotten how much fun a simple, low powered car could be.

I'm keeping this:)

The new baby has had a good scrub down and polish. As a result the rather unpleasant pensioner beige chic colour has gone, to be replaced with the original white. Even happier:)

Say hello to everyone, shiny Panda.

Awww, I love white Pandas!(y)

Got blue one as it was too much a of great deal. That and a thought that I could plasti-dip it white or vinyl it. But apparently I'm not the one wearing the trousers so it's black plasti-dip or vinyl now. Damn that woman...:bang:

Well, after a couple of weeks the engine management light came on, but didn't seem to affect the running, so I ignored it.

Went for a good thrash today (Whitehaven to Newcastle and back) and the light went out. Exercise is obviously good for it.

So far 48MPG, mostly hard driving. Impressive.

I don't like having to manually turn the radio on/off. I will forget and flatten the battery. And the drivers door mirror doesn't adjust enough, all I can see is the side of the car. I haven't resorted to mindless violence just yet.

And still fun to drive. Except accelerating up hills:)
