It would seem that many here use the Bosh 4 things, has anyone used the NGK BKR6EIX type on a HGT?

I think Tom perhaps was the one that suggested the numerical value relates to temparature or something. I think the manual gives codes featuring a 6 for most models, but an 8 for the HGT. And you can get a set of those Bosch4's at Halfords for £20

Which part number should be selected for the Series 1 HGT then standard champions are listed in the handbook as RC7BMC and my local Halfords don't have that handy guide (most pages missing for FIAT) plus the staff are totaly clueless...

Sorry, which branch of Halfords? Your staff comment confused me.

i aint no Halfords Goon!

I was just trying to think of places where plugs are readily available.

The code for my Bosch4's (HGT) is 512.

Re: i aint no Halfords Goon!

The number is the temp grade, this is really quite important as it makes the difference between a good plug and one that gets fouled cos its too cold or melts cos its too hot.

Holy Crap!!

What have I let myself in for with this HGT I bought, don't get me wrong I love the car but I really do think I managed to buy myself a money pit.

I've only just noticed from a few diagrams where my spark plugs are. Keeping in mind that I am in no way good with all things mechanical it sure does look like one hell of a job to replace the damn plugs.

Or am I wrong? Anyone whos done it, do you have any step by step pics / instructions?

Thanks Muchly

...and don't forget you have to get 5...my local McHellfords sell a set for the HGT, but there is only 4 in the box...i argued with them for about 20mins over the fact the HGT had 5 cyls, but they wouldn't believe me...muppets!

Yeah I know had that argument this afternoon & they only sell them in packs of 4 (510's by the way for series 1 HGT), no singles available there!

So anyway ordered them online plus a set of NGK Iridiums (NGK--BKR6EIX) yeah I queried the "6", with NGK's the lower the number the higher the heat rating, is that the opposite to champion? strange huh...

Think I'll try each set for a couple of weeks & see how they compare.

Spose I'd better get that injector light that flashed up this afternoon diagnosed this weekend too. :(

All spark plug ratings go the same way, higher = colder running.

Iridiums are pointless on an engine with such a low state of tune. Maybe if it was putting out 250BHP they would be of use.
