A few friends took me "off roading" today. Unfortunately I managed to snap part of the steering on the little Suzuki Jeep they gave me to drive.

After a quick phone call their friend turned up, introduced himself and said he would need the heavy duty battery off the little Suzuki, plus both the batteries off my friends Land Rovers.

We took the batteries off while he fetched a small bag which contained what looked like battery leads, mole grips and the leads off an arc welder.

I stood and watched in amazement as he wired the batteries in series using the battery leads, then connected the welding leads to them and struck an arc that was powerful enough to easily weld the tracking rod.

Did you get his number? That's the sort of bloke I need around the pits on race weekends. :D

 good times!!

although it makes sense welders are low voltage and high current! never seen it done like this!!!

i like the bit around 6-7 minutes when he's trying to break it off made me think 'Dont tap it... Whack it!!!'
