General alloy bumpers

whats the best way of restoring them? Mine have started to crackle and dirt has gotten under the laquer.

A full restore to "brushed alloy" look is hard work - the easy solution is to find some that are in good condition already. To do it yourself you are talking about getting them stripped of lacquer, re-brushed (or polished/painted) and re-laquered.

Most people just paint them black....
