This forum is great because anyone can post at anytime.. One of the most off-puttings things about forums is registering for them, but that's probably cuz i'm lazy

Hello all,
I am from the dark ages.
This is the only forum I have ever used, so I cannot suggest improvements or alternatives.( coz I simply don't know what this machinery is capable of..)
However, what has occurred to me about most of the posts that I read, is that there is a great depth of humour,respect, and a general sense of a common interest here.I for one, have been the butt of couple of retorts, but I feel that I took the comments in the spirit they were made, and certainly took no offence.(mentioning no names ...seb !!)
It is shameful that some people feel the need to make the kind of statements that are being discussed on this thread.
But should they be responded to and perpetuate the problem ??
Maybe the genuine members of BOO could see past these posts and contribute to a positive environment ?

Firstly, I'd like to thank RR for his apology, seeing as no-one else has mentioned it. I thank you for that RR. It's a shame that more of the people who were guilty of posting crap haven't done the same.
We have this debate quite regularly about the forum format. In fact, I remember about 5 years ago suggesting we move to a php based forum with registration and much more strict moderation. I was shouted down quite heavily but between us, we thrashed out a compromise that saw Wimmy, myself and Nige installed as moderators. When Wimmy took over the running of the club, and Nige took a back seat to concentrate on Angel Tuning, Al was drafted in and I think between us we do a good job. It is funny though that since I moved house and lost my DSL connection (I am accessing from work at the moment) and I have been coming on here less, things get a bit lary !
The vast majority of people here are good, sensible and respectful individuals but some do get carried away with the tit for tat playground abuse. These people always want the last word and seem to garner much enjoyment from baiting others. Those that rise to the bait are just as bad.
Let's keep it nice and respectful, remembering why we are all here and keep any abuse or ill feeling to yourself or exchange it in private, off forum.

i wasnt going to respond to this as this thread will probably go on forever as most debates do but would just like to point out that all i have ever done here is help people on this forum E.G. how to on painting brake calipers do you think i did it cause i was bored no i did it cause it was in a bid to help a few others who asked for it so i see it a bit unfair that i was the one who was blamed for the for focus topic being locked i said a joke to RR rob took it far to seriously and then said keep it on topic but in the title was "here here" so the topic was never on topic for a fiat bravo/a marea forum i dont hide behind the keyboard as i have already a full paying member and been to boo meets.

Your post was antagonistic and just poured more fuel on the fire that was about to go up. The thread was about a Ford Focus, and the OP had not prefixed it with OT. Some valid, sensible comments were made and then it just spiralled downwards because certain individuals (not you) decided it was a great way to attack another user. That other user responded and has now apologised for his behaviour. It's a shame the others haven't done so too. No one blamed you (yes, that's a winking smiley after my comment on that thread) so please, let's leave the high horses outside and just move on
