i don't think any of them tell you exactly whats in them, smells like pretty strong stuff though. Kinda like hair bleach but much stronger. Sure you can use something else, i guess anything that will clean out the oil and thus the stuff stuck to it.
Then of course there is the argument paper ones are better as the oil on oiled ones gunks up MAF sensors - not something we need to worry about on these older FIRE engines.
