Technical Air intake question

60s Team mate wondering where I can pick a decent yet inexpensive air induction kit up from?

Cheers Bill

Saw this description suggests it's compatible

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-PUNT...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item564d4d057e

and this connection pipe

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-GRAN...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25817de88c

Saw the more expensive type filters and the Ebeneezer Scrooge which is my Duel persona kicked in

To be honest I may just go for this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PiperCros...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a812efeea

But was hopping for a direct air intake system.

what about just fitting a K&N filter in replace of the Std filter, cheaper than whole new kit system, not quit the same air intake but the K&N filter allows it to breath better than the std ones. just a thought! (y)

I have fitted a K&N filter and Stainless exhust (big bore). I have increased my fuel range by 30 - 50 miles (depends on type of driving), but still more miles for the same cost of a full fuel tank.(y)

Pretty much nothing. The TB on the Mk1s (and Cinqs and SPI Seis) is much bigger (in O/D rather than in choke size) than on the MPI cars (Mk2s, etc.).

But Cinq stuff should fit OK.

I looked at the stuff for the cinqs but when I checked compatibility it kept coming up not compatible??

So am confused as I don't normally do anything more radical than wash my car every now and then  all this is foreign to me.

It's not the noise i'm after just better mileage which I believe is the advantage of a direct air type filter ie outside the box. However if this can be achieved with a decent air filter fitted in the air box then I am good with that'

whats the pro's and cons of this?

It'll fit. GSR Punto Mk1 and Cinq stuff is identical.

But I really doubt you'll see any increase in MPG unless the old filter was very clogged.

I see the pipercross is washable so may go with that.

Cheers I know i'm thick :):):)

But if I don't ask

But remember you have to buy a cleaning kit which is about £10 + the filter at about £35 and now you have spent around £45. You could buy 10 or 11 standard air filters for that much which will last much much longer than the cleaning kit. Hence why i say just get a normal one.

KN is a bogus, no matter what the rotten-beemer-driving dude next door said. Nuff.
