General Air Conditioning Hiss?

What do peoples air conditioning units sound like when on (inside the car). From the outside ours sounds fine but inside there is a definite hiss noise when switched on. Are they all like this or is ours leaking or something?

Mine hisses on-and-off. It's just the gass rushing through the expansion valve - some do, some don't.

Havent had any hissing so far mind you my old car's air con started hissing and I got rid of it rather than possibly paying for air con repairs

hoping it wont start as dont want to get rid of the 500 lol

A hissing when the system is switched-on indicates a low gas level.

Get it regassed (and checked for any possible leaks) and the noise will go away.

Update: Got system regassed and it seems to be working again. Hope it doesn't happen again...

A pipe on my air con split a month ago, it lost all the gas... fixxed with warranty. Still pretty poor on a 10 month old car, didnt hear any hissing tho...

This happend all the time to my Astra Atleast twice a year, but they dont seem to to find the leak. They have even changed the main AC pump. Luckily I have traded the Astra in for a brand new BravoJust hope the Astra stays OK until december when the Bravo arrives
