Hello guys, air con started making a rattling noise. It does it for a 1-2 seconds as soon as compressor kicks in, then goes silent. I've asked my wife to turn on and off while I was recording. It still blows cold air. Any one had same issue? Do you think it will soon break? I use the Aircon periodically even during the winter to defog windscreen and also because I read somewhere that is good practice to keep it working. I have replaced auxiliary belt only( not the tensioner) 3 months ago while I did timing belt job. The car has about 67000 miles and 15 years.
Here's a link to a video so you can hear the noise.

Many thanks to all

It sounds like the clutch on the aircon pump to me, I had it on a customers Peugeot some years ago as she regularly drove through flooded lanes to her horses, if I squirted engine oil into the pulley/clutch area it quietened it down for a short while to aid diagnosis.
Unfortunately on her model no parts for clutch pulley available so new air con pump was the answer.
Hers was a lot newer and low mileage, just more abuse.;)

Thanks for your reply, really appreciate. Should I need to replace the compressor, what are the steps involved? Is it possible to do at home? I'm more concerned about gas removal and refill. And lets say the compressor breakes, will it be an issue for other things connected to auxiliary belt, or can I drive it any way , without using air con, until I can get replaced?

Nothing simple, gas needs collecting with Air Con machine at garage, careful removal of all gas pipes, replace pump/compressor, regas at garage including oil added to lubricate the system etc.
Generally you cannot run with pump on most vehicles as even with a shorter auxillary belt often the pump guides it around other obstacles, unless you can fine the same model vehicle with a non air con option for belts.
Note if pipes left disconnected it doesn't do the air con system much good.:(
Try doing the engine oil squirt can trick to see if it helps, also see if your model has a removable clutch/pulley, not sure if possible to do in situ, may be worth looking into.
