recently purchased a 1.4 grande punto sporting finding out its a rare model t-jet bucket sort of style seats the multi spoke t-jet alloys 6speed box its real nice car but wanting to modify

i havent looked into it to deeply but it has a stupidly masive airbox right over the hole engine can it be removed pipes added and k&n fitted also can the box be drilled adding airflow

thanks nick

By drilling the box yes it will sound better, but and there is a large but. You will be inducting warm air into the engine, warm air is less dense than cold air that is why it rises. Being less dense means that the ecu will detect this and lower the amount of fuel it injects into the engine as it will run rich so in effect you will loose power. To run at it's best an engine wants a cold air feed that is why most force air induction cars have an intercooler to cool the air down.

So to sum up don't bother, you will make your car slower and if you drill the wrong side of the air filter you will suck crap into your engine.

Just use a panel filter and later on if you like the sound get something like a GSR kit.
