The other day i was driving my fiat uno when suddenly the brakes went on it without and notice or anything they just didnt work, so after that i had to start using the handbrake but as i was driving at an inclin the handbrake wouldnt work neither even if it was all the way up. If this common on uno's someone let me know, or any advice what it could be i would be greatful!

check that your break pipes and handbreak cable are not cut, someone did that to my brother-in-laws alfa, and he drives with kids in the car.

Who in their right f-ing mind would cut brake pipes and cable, that is the lowest of the low.

SOmebody unclipped part of the V-brakes on my sister's bike after she had gone to church one morning (the bike was locked outside but to unclipped them takes a few seconds and means you get no tension). She then road down the hill next to the church which I get to over 30mph on my bike (although she would have been more sedate I assume). On the bend on the hill, about 200metres down, my speed 30mph just before braking for the tight turn, no brakes. She went straight forward, slamming into a kerb then the wall. She broke her arm, bruised her ribs and badly cut her face and body. Her face has healed perfectly however, and all of the other damage was fixed.

How could somebody have done this?! the police didn't do anything, said it could have been her fault for not maintaining her brakes which is my job. They worked fine and that clip has to be intentionally lifted. You could have gone 3 ways - flat road, flat road or approx 10% hill, so I guess they didn't know she would be going down the hill but what losers.

Hi everyone, im new on this forum, just bought an uno 1.0 ie start.
Regarding the brakes failing, you should NEVER get total failiure, the system is dual circuit, so the only real cause would be, NO fluid, ie, if you had a leak and hadent checked your fluid, but the low fluid light should tell you, is it working? always check fluid once a week regardless, also if your servo failed you should still be able to stop but with alot more pedal effort, if someone had tampered with your brakes they would have to do both circuits front/back, as for the hand brake according to posts on here they are not very good, mine is no exception! so check your fluid, if the res is empty, refill bleed and check EVERYTHING the flexible hoses are a favorite they perish and can burst. cheers good luck.
