Styling Aerial

I've heard that you can sand the black off the standard aerial to make it silver. what sort of sand paper would be best to use and would it look tidy or "scratchy". also, would it effect radio signal doing this?

It was me that said about it. Dont know if anyone else has done it.

If you use the finest sandpaper you can find it wont show any scratch marks. If you also shorten the ariel with a hack saw (take the rubber plug at the end off 1st) It will look good. Sanding it down wont make any difference to the signal although shortening it will. I have a spare here if you want that. All you have to pay is postage. I could make a guide but it think its very straight foward.

have you noticed a huge difference in shortening?

TBH i have more than halved the ariel and have noticed no difference in the signal.

i cut a bravo aerial down to about 4/5inches and it its pretty naff now, just a warning.

the signal mght be stronger somewhere else?
