Hi there.

I drive a Palio Go2(1.2).

Lately i picked up a problem.(heared its quite common on the new fiats.)

When driving around in town, everytime i going for a gear change, and pressed the clucth the revs doesn't drop.example.i pull away and go for 3000rpm.as soon as i let off the gas and pressed the clutch the revs just stays there.

also with this problem comes, when i slow down to stop and the car reach idle it jumps up and idles at 1500rpm to 2500rpm.Why.

Please Help if You know of anything that might solve the problem.

Its been to fiat twice now for that same problem but it keep re-appearing.

If it has one - try disconnecting the clutch pedal switch. If it improves the situation then I would replace the switch as it helps smooth the gear changes.

Holding your foot on the brakes will start to deplete the servo of air over time as the engine provides the servo with air - if there is a leak or more demand on the brakes then the engine will increase revs to compensate.

Check for leaks on the vacuum side of the servoas well.

I have the same idle rev problem. As the car come to reach stand stil and i press the clutch down, it revs between 1500rpm-3500rpm. This is really starting to worry me. Dont know if the engine can handle it.

I have been to fiat and they suggested that I rewire the wire loom and trottle body which cost a fotune and stil they not sure if this might solve the problem.

The local fiat pulled out the plug by the map sensor and the revs went away but the idle is not stable and sometimes the car dies underneath my feet. This is not disirable I suppose.

Might it be the map sensor that has gone?
Is it something else that effects the map sensor in this way.
Can a electrical short also be the cause of this?

Please help me, need it desparately.

Regards

Hi chrizano.

i haven't had this problem in quite some time.

i installed a vacuum gauge in my car to see if i can pick up any problems.

the vacuum pipe that i removed to cut in half was really lose fitting on the computer.so i bought a new pipe(looks like a fuel line but just rubber).

ever since i replaced the pipe the car haven't shown any problems again.

i don't know if it was the problem or not......but i haven't got any rev\idle issues again.

the fiat dealership will fix the most expensive thing first....they don't do any fault findings first.

let me know if i should place a pic if you don't understand

2 years ago I had an idling issue, car's revs would increase when starting car in morning (especially when its cold outside). Also when waiting in queue at KFC. They replaced tappet cover gaskets, refitted vacuum pipe & reset parameters.
