Advice needed?!?!?!?!?!?

Help me guys (and gals),

I've recently got a new job, which now involves a 50 mile a day round trip, 85% of which is on the motorway.

I'm driving a 99 1.6 HLX, on 17" wheels.

Question is, if i take the 17's off and put the standard 15" HLX wheels back on, will i get a noticable difference in fuel consumption? I noticed when the 17's went on that the car felt slower too?

Thanx in advance.

Tony.

P.S.

Before you vultures start askin about buyin my wheels (lol) they aren't for sale, this is only a temporary measure until i've had the job 3 months, then i'm eligable to "rent" a company corsa sxi for £140 per month, and that includes tax and insurance. I figure that i'll save more than £140 in the lower fuel costs of a 1.2 plus the reduced wear and tear on my Bravo, and the corsa gets changed every 6 months. (Veiws on this subject would be appreciated too!) thanx all.

140 quid a month is a lot of money if you don't like the car...

Most Corsas handle like a sack of plop. Only the SRi has revised suspension: I'm pretty sure the SXi has the carry-over 'old' Corsa set-up. Also, the small-capacity Vauxhall engines are dreadful.

I guess you need to do some maths and work out if you can live with it.

Re: Re: Advice needed?!?!?!?!?!?

I had a Corsa 1.2 in November for a couple of weeks while the Bravo was being repaired.

It was awful, especially as my driving is 95% motorway. It can get up to a decent cruising speed (eventually) but going over the Pennines it was all over place from the cross winds - and it wasn't even that windy!

Also when using it for motorway driving the economy is not as good as my 1.6 Bravo due to small engine at high speed - Seriously !

PS- Other hate points:
Steering too light, Setting off quickly in 1st feels like 3rd does in any other car, Wing mirrors off a transit van, headrests that obstruct the rear view mirror, Sun visor mirror on drivers side (for doing makeup while driving presumably!?!), horrible central locking system, awful radio that likes to decide what you want to listen to...... I could go on.....
