Hi,

I have a Bravo 80 sx with 45k on the clock, over the past couple of week i have been having a problem. When the car is stationary the rev's go right down and some times it cut's out. I have read posting on this site about idiling is this the same problem. What do you suggest I do is there anything i can do myself?

Thanks
Ed

Me too

Now then lad,

Do you have a K & N Cone fitted. I had this problem with my 80SX. It happens when the engine is warm and cold. I spoke to the guys at Fiat and he said it was due to the K&N filter lets in so much air the ECU can't judge the fuel mixture. Don't know how much of this is true.

All I say is since I put the standard filter back in I haven't (touch wood) had the same problem.

Anthony :)

P.S I thought I was unluckey with my bravo regarding crashes, It sounds like it goes around

iDLING

Sorry to hear about your probs mate, i have a Brava 80sx
and its just gone to the garage (Roadside Coleraine NI)
for a second time, i have had many conflicting solutions from this forum - but suffice to say that the garage basically can't suss the problem they say they've never experienced it and therefore cannot fix it.

Mine seems to go bad in traffic i.e lights roundabouts
slow moving traffic. It used to be fine from Cold start
but thats changed the performance is sh*tty after a stall and the engine hesitates and surges all over the place - i've had this problem for a month and a half already!

I got reports about the LAMBDA sensor, ICV (idle control valve - Stepper Motor) and the Throttle Body and the ECU - all these control your idle level

Hopefully on this occasion i can get it fixed so i'll Keep you Posted on what they did to solve it

If your not under warranty like i am, get a good mechanic who would have experience with Fiats, and maybe your problems will be solved that way - FIAT service don't have a clue about their cars they just rely on Diagnostics.

Keep you posted

Cheers

Cheers guys,

Dave do keep me posted as you sound as though you have the exact same problem!

water

Dave K sounds like the problem maybe down to the water temp sensor (very problematic on the 2.0 16v engines) causing surging when driving and hesitiation, and when it stalls from cold it takes ages to start again, if it does its probably that sensor.

I will...

had a nasty phone arguement with the fiat garage
they said my car was a day late for it's booking and would have to sit on the forecourt for a further 2 weeks!

I went apesh*t... i rang the dealer who i have the warranty with level serious abuse at them for causing me bother, i can't get a Courtesy Car off them cos i'm only Turd Party ins.

My nightmare continues...

Got a phone call later and the Dealer(non fiat) is going to fix the Car, maybe a week or so, but better than 2 - 3 weeks at the Fiat dealer

I let you know what they find out. since they're not a fiat franchise ( Bought the Car used)

Tipo, the Water temp sensor - are you sure - i've heard reports of the lambda sensor but thats ineffective from a cold start - i think mine probs has more to do with the Air fuel mixture and fuel injectors or the Idle Control Valve.

Speak to ya soon...
