General Abs light help

Got to my multipla this morn and as its been snowin ran the engine for a while which i norm do. well this morn i took handbrake off and the car still seemed as tho it was still on, once warmed up enuff it got better tho halfway on the skool run the ABS light came on on the dash and now wont go off. HELP cos i am car illiterate and want the light off

I have experienced the same problem. Once it warms up then fault light goes off -doesn't seem to cause any long term problems.

ABS light probably caused by snow/ice ingress.

Do not use handbrake in freezing weather. Put it in gear / use a couple of bricks for wheel chocks.

just had this fault this morning for the first time

Rear wheels locked by possible the brakes but the handbrake seems unaffected.

ABS light on the dash lit!

seems ok now but not took it for a journey

are the rear brakes drum? have they seized up due to the cold?

god this is the first real cold day of the year, is it going to get worse?

Took mine out for a run today and was fine once the handbrake had warmed up. ABS light went off almost immediately and drives like normal now. Car been left in gear and handbrake off so fingers crossed it will be better tomorrow when i get to it Never happened b4 Friday so shows how bloody cold its been. Cheers again for the help guys x

The light comes on because the abs system sees you pulling away with the front wheels and the rears are locked and throws the light on thinking there is a fault.
This happens on most front wheel drive cars when you put them on a rolling road as the fronts are moving and the rears are stationary.
Nothing to worry about apart from burning your brake pads and poss warping your disks/drums when the brakes are applied for any distance.
Dont get me wrong ive done it myself when i needed to get to work one day.
Its just the handbrake cables full of water and then freezing solid unfortunatley the area where the cables dont really get any heat so takes an eternity to free off.

We've had this problem over the last 2-3 days since the freezing cold weather/snow/ice. Thought my car was going to need serious repairs, as I couldn't get past 2nd gear on the icy road I was on. Seemed OK later in the day when I drove it again. Never happened in my old Zaffie so threw me a bit!
