now whether you like the marque or not, look at the vxr site and marketing
http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/vxr/flash/index.html

now wouldnt it be good if fiat could push the abarth marque the same way?
as it is its just tacked on to the tange IMHO.i know they may not have funds for extreme models but surely they can see how the VXR branding is working for VX?

Definatley agree... there one of the few brands that have some proper motor sport heritage, and a really good marketing point they could exploit... I think they almost have a right to at least try and live up to (with some cars with similar intentions) what the name represents.

exactly i agree they should try to push the rim. but abarth recently is just in styling, spoilers . yes theres the stilo abarth , but that was surpassed by the schumacher , which was the same car with upgraded suspension , which the abarth should have have from the beginning .add the ferrari stye wheel gear change (or selespeed ) which was on the abarth it should have been a market leader. if promoted correctly .because only alfa at that time used selespeed on production cars. but was it NO . shame on you fiat.

whats more annoying is that it would appear that the corsas fiat equivilent, the GP abarth, will be at least 30 odd horses short........no point looking good if your scorpions going to be eaten alive by a griffin......

theres not been a fiat abarth since the 80's as in ABARTH 130TC just everyday fiats with shiny abarth badges, nothing special! but i admit to putting abarth badges on the uno turbo! Ant!

yes abarth as a company haven't really done anything proper in the last 20yrs, and were still waiting for the gp'abarth. but when ppl go to buy a new fiat, they are only ever aware of 'abarth' tuning by the odd little thing in the brio catalogue (which you have to ask for, and even then half them don't know what it is). so very few ppl other than fiat buffs actually order their cars with any abarth additives.

and on a vaux note, WTF< a VXR zafira!! no worse, a VXR meriva:cry: :bang:

vxr corsa looks promising though, I doubt any chav will be able to afford one, they'll buy a the 1.0 3 pot (weedy and pathetic in the corsa b, then worse in teh C, and now this shape) and badge/ bodykit it up like a vxr:cry:

but thats the whole point, the likes of the zafira benifit from the faster models like the VXR8 :yum:

Strange you should bring this up..

They are indeed looking at making Abarth a name to be reckoned with again.

New Abarth & C. at Geneva Motor Show 2007
World premiere to relaunch the brand.

At the 77th International Motor Show of Geneva, Abarth will be relaunched for all the fans of sports car racing.

For the departure of this new adventure, an innovative, technological and extremely well- studied stand was selected: here the strong personality of the brand is seen in the Abarth racing stripe, revamped and built with LED, and a new three-dimensional logo made of shiny glazed aluminium.
The aluminium, carbon fibre, enamels and lacquering of the stand add value to the real stars of the show: the new Grande Punto Abarth S2000, type-approved for competitions, and heir of the winner of the 2006 races, and the concept car Grande Punto Abarth Preview, at its world premiere.

The car perfectly represents the two souls of Abarth: racing and mass production. The third sector of activities, transforming and tuning cars, is represented by a multimedia configurator that illustrates the concept of the ‘Abarth kit’, displaying its flexibility and wide assortment of combinations (soon available) in the form of transformation boxes. Some of these boxes are solid wood, inlaid with glazed aluminium trim and displayed inside crystal cubes; they contain the historical auto parts for mechanical and aesthetic preparations.

On the walls of the stand is an exclusive LED technology and a plasma screen that present images and historical films, alternating them with a reproduction of the emblematic racing stripe: the subtle connection between the past and future, along with the energy and personality the Abarth brand carries in its character.

that geneva motor show stand is lacking 1 very important factor.

SOUND!!!!

it NEEDS the soundtrack recorded from a trio of microphones (one on inlet manifold, next in the cabin near the floorpan (to get stone noises), the last one outside, getting the 9,000rpm soundtrack banging and popping off the cliffs and hillsides.

they have that noise playing, people WILL WANT:cool:

I was thinking of something like this, but MUCH better quality

There already making a lot of money by fooling people they have a special car when there only getting a shiny scorpion badge!! and doubt they'l ever get into rallying again Ant!

er the GP abarth is like a focus RS (old one, not that new massive people carrier sized thing), its wider because its on custom suspension designed/tested/built by abarth, so is the engine, so is the g;box, and I would assume a lot of the bodywork would be different to cator for the gpAbarths wider stance.

its a bit more than a badge. or will be. but at present, its just bodykits and floormats:rolleyes:

they should of done a Fiat Coupe Abarth! taking the fastest front wheel drive car, and making it into a true monster. admittedly i doubt if they could of done much more and the coupe isn't exactly abarth material. but i definitely agree Fiat should use abarth much more than just for aftermarket cosmetic accessories.

I've read in a few places that c&b cams used to make the cams for the abarth models, thats why on the contenent c&b cams are more commonly known as abarth cams:confused: . If its true fiat should sell c&b cams as an optional extra(y) (wthout the waiting times though).
