ok guys ive just got my hands on a abarth uno 1301cc, im not to sure on fiats, as used to a ford 2.0 fiesta. it has a abarth steering wheel (red and black leather) abarth gear shifter and abart seats ? also has anti skid, OK more TO THE POINT im having a problem with blue smoke, im thinking its turbo seals, i have another another turbo in the boot, so no problem, is their any way to change the turbo without dropping out the engine as it looks very tight ???

Inlet manifold will have to come off...

You might be able to get at it from underneath but it will be tight.

The Anti Skid ones are ment to be rare.

The smoke could be piston rings or pistons, white smoke is normally turbo.

Best bet is to do a wet and dry compression test.

Yep, but in exhange for this information, I want pictures!!
Side on, front, rear, interior (a couple, inc' one of the steering wheel and one of the seats), engine bay... if you've got it; flaunt it. :yum:

What's the top speed of this little beastie at normal boost? Standard UT is 124 but will show up at around 128mph on the clocks with standard wheels/tyres I know very little of the turbo abarths, it might just be rebadged... don't know.

The turbo, right... leave the car standing for a bit to clear out petrol hoses and the like... and to lower temperatures, especially if you're going near the turbo ;)

...take off the big silicon hose leading to the butterfly valve in the plenium chamber (what reads " TURBO I.E."), then remove the plenium chamber by taking off the small hose on the left, the electrical clip just on the right hand side and the two spade connectors (this is the boost cutoff switch, tape the spade connectors up so they can't touch eachother and leave them somewhere in the engine bay if you wish to raise the boost, or else the engine will cut out at 0.86BAR boost...)

Er, then take out the Airflow meter (with the air filter connected to it with a big hose - or with a K&N in front of it)... the big hose that leads to the back of the airflow meter connects to the turbo... I think it's then accessable.

Remove this big hose, the recirc' dump valve & other things will come with it... should be a matter of unbolting lots of ... nuts & bolts... if you need further help, post up.

Good luck matey.

I get some light black/greyish smoke on mine, I believe it's the turbo and the engine overfuelling. It's never bothered me, and it passed emissions.

Alright mate

Yeah some pics would be good mate, very few about!

Right, as for the turbo removal:
(This can be done by just taking off the inlet manifold insted of taking the likes of the battery, Air flow meter, header tank, etc, etc off)

This numberd list is in no perticular order, just a numberd amount of things to do

1) Depressurize(?) the fuel system (Fuel pump relay out and let it tick over til it cuts out)

2) Fuel line off from the rail side of the filter

3) Air flow meter-to-Turbo piping off at the AFM end

4) All various electric connectors off and the injector loom off(Label if need be)

5) Now you gota jack up the front of the car and get to the turbo oil return pipe

6) Block/clamp somehow the turbo-to-header tank coolant pipes (Saves pissing about flushing the system if it dont need it)

7) Inlet manfold off (but be careful of the bolts and studs as the head is alloy and can round off easy!).....................this can be a coont................you gota wriggle it about as the "web castings" on the inlet manifold between the exhaust pipes get in the way off taking off the inlet manifold (Well on the mk2 they do).........so grind them down abit when you get the exhaust manifold off

8) Remove the turbo elbow from the turbo

Should end up like this below (y) lol

Piece of ****, ive got it down to about 20-30 mins, lol

where abouts are you anyway mate?

Yeah there's no such thing as an 'Abarth' Uno, but there are 'Racings'. Could be one of those. And if it's an Antiskid it could even be Robs!!! Is your car Red and did you buy it in Devon by any chance?...........M.

It aint my one bruv, mine never had any of that on it, and my little uno never smoked........
Post up some pic's mate.....

on my logbook it shows Uno Turbo IE Antiskid, it has green punto looking abart hwheels, digidash, Abarth Fast road cams( red anodised colour), the wheel and shifter, the car is black and is a 1301cc on the book, it also has abath in the head rests and uprated fuel regulator, the rest is unknown,

ive just took her down the road, Big PUFFF of smoke and now it wont run but it will start but as soon as she fires over, she dies ? ive been messing around with the loom inside the car but it was ideling for about 15 minutes, now the digidash is displaying the oil temp at 140 degrees, ( top of gague ?) any help ( im thinking the turbo has gone and its getting the wrong fuel / air mixture, i have a pic on my phone and i found the uno in a field and aquired the log book :) 81000 on the clock

Here it is, more pics of the wheel and shifter tomorow when i try to get the turbo off :( its seems to be a short shift aswell

Lol..............in a field????

I know RACING editions were only availible in South Africa

Probly just a labeld up car

Look good tho!
What the body like?

yeah in a field, it seems wierd, it has Abarth door shut guards, the red and black steering wheel, the cam and vernier pulley, uprated fuel regulator, abarth seats, any ideads on teh turbo mate? ever had one go and the car not run ? as for the body, it has slight rust on the door top and bottem, little scab on the a pillar and a few stone chips being rusty, think it needs a bit of welding on the inner seals, im just hoping the turbo has gone, and not the engine
