Not had me Bravo more than 5 days and somethings up, was wondering if anyone could help.

Problem is there is a grinding noise when turning right or using the brakes at low speed...

I've had the wheels off this morning & gave everything a good look over at it all appears to be as it should. Even with the wheels on & spinning while jacked up I can't get it to make the same noise.

Anyone got a clue as to what I should be looking for??

had simular problem with my hgt it turned out to be the power steering so had a new idle put on and it has seemed to off done the trick

Bravo

Could be wheel bearings. Mines are starting to go. Could also be a track rod end or cv joint

Re: Bravo

Cheers guys for the responces I've just come back from a little indipendent specialist garage over the river (Thanks to Andy Bates of Woodcock's in Hull) who was nice enough to hold off from closing today to give my Bravo a going over.

Well as it turns out I've been shafted by the garage I bought it from (Starling Motors, Biggleswade).

I'm told that the Cam Belt change that happened 5,000 miles ago was done but they didn't do the job properly & fogot to replace a few parts. The entire front suspension gubbins needs to be replaced because it's all over the place & my clutch is on it's way out...

Good news is that the rest of the car is in A1 nick, I just have to spend about £1,500 to put the above crap right.

Bang goes my lovely new alloys & tyres & Kenwood DVD screen/player I was planning to buy myself this Christmas.

Re: Bravo

What a shitter...:(

Can't you take it back to where you got it from and tell them to sort it?

Not that this is any consolidation, but when its done, at least you will have a top notch motor...

keep your eyes open if you fancy comeing to the next one something will be arranged around march time :)

ohh and welcome to the forum :)

Re: Bravo

Glad to here that someone has had a good experience with Woodcocks, guess I'll be letting them strip my HGT early in the new year & put it back together how it should have been in the 1st place.

Regarding the meet around march time, you can count on me being there.

Re: Bravo

take it back!!! with that amount of repairs you should just reject it immediately! why should you be footing the bill? you paid a premium by buing at a garage so that you wouldn't have these problems!

Re: Bravo

would any of these problems fail the mot? If so, trading standards state that a vehicle bought from a garage must certainly be road worthy.
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Consumer Credit Act 1974 say that, if you can show the goods to be faulty or misdescribed, you have 'for a short time after purchase' a right to reject the goods and get a refund of the purchase price. This will include the return of a traded in vehicle if this is still available, or of the full value placed on it, if it has been disposed of.

Finaly Finished

It continues…

Well I finally picked up my HGT on Friday from Woodcocks with my wallet a whole £1558.18 lighter.

LOL I had only been out in it for 20 minutes when I managed to blaze through a speed trap & have my moment of fame by camera (damn blasted M62 & its F**king speed trap...).

Anyway after all the um'ing and ar'ing I was doing regarding who to take the bravo too I did finally get it booked with Woodcocks (I'll say that again "WOODCOCKS" of Hull - Tel: 01482 568956) and I must say they have done an amazing job.

Alan had mentioned to me before the work that the car just didn't feel right handling wise & to quote him he informed me that "It's all over the place". Personally I thought it was perfectly fine when compared to the golf's passats & escorts i usually drive how ever he was dead right. I honestly couldn't believe the difference, it's now like a totally different car with truly sharp responses & I can almost feel every little crease & texture in the road being communicated back through to me via the steering wheel.

I know this is sounding like an advert but I truly am delighted with the work Alan has done on my HGT & his no bullshit attitude that so many other garages live by.

With regards to trading standards & getting back some of the costs, it would seem that the previous owner who traded the vehicle to the garage I purchased it from had forged one or two things in the service record. I have uncovered the fact that the gentleman of whom was working on & servicing the vehicle all its life is a family friend of the previous owner. When originally questioned by me prior to the purchase of the vehicle he had told me everything was as good as it seemed, I have now discovered that he had forged a few receipts etc for work that wasn't actually done such as the damn Timing Belt!!!...

The long & the short of it is that, so far I am screwed. I have made my complaints with the garage I purchased it from however as far as they are concerned they had purchased the HGT with all documentation taken as being correct. I presently have no other course of action as for me to regain any expenses they will have to first be able to get them from the original owner...

It all sucks...

cough cough

cough cough, how much was the original car?

Bad luck on the speed camera

Hull is crap for driving in, i have 6 points already and there's more and more camera's coming about.

To everyone coming to Hull for whatever reason.

I'd like to say don't bother but there are some nice bits, but don't bring your accelarator with you, you'll only need your brake
