Was at Goodwood Breakfast Club this morning and saw this fiat 600 Multipla

Last year at the Revival the owner was kind enough to drive my Dad and I in it from the circuit to The Kennels after I mentioned I was slightly obsessed with 500s and 600s. I tried sitting in the front seat to see if I could ever own one - at 6'3" I can fit behind the wheel of a 500, but the Multipla was way too small :(

Great car!

Brilliant design---my parents used to own one of these cars when I was but a wee laddie. The Multipla had 6 seats in 3 rows of 2 seats; bench seat at the back, 2 individual seats in the middle and a bench seat at the front. The 2 middle seats could fold down flat individually giving a large luggage space in the middle. Fiat tried to have them accepted as taxis (a job they were used extensively for in Italy) in this country, but the relevant authorities would not allow them to be used. The front suspension is double wishbone as there is not the space for a transverse front spring, but the engine/transmission layout is the same as a normal 600D--and could therefore be 'Abarthised' the same as the 600 range---an interesting project if you can find one in good nick! I doubt whether the (very!) forward control driving position would be allowed in this modern era of safety conscious design, but a great car all the same.(y)

Mario the Multipla is certainly very cool - but I have to admit that, when I read the title of the thread, I thought this was what I was going to see! ;)
