I probably shouldnt post this, now you may all think I'm a total lunatic...

When I bought this jtd to replace the 1.6 I had before it, it came very cheaply with a broken front spring and missing fuel filler flap...

It's had many issues as you know and so did the one before it, but it's over ten years old I'm sure any car would have.

Last night in that storm the flap blew open and later when I parked in town I came back to find the flap in the road, blown off, knocked off, who knows.... And this is the bit where you will probably all say; get a grip and stop being so silly, lol, but when I saw it with fuel cap exposed I felt maybe this was the end of the road for us together....

A bit like, this is how it came to me and this is how it will leave me...

I think it's all the noises and the impending MOT (September) so go on please people, tell me I'm being silly and I'm not wasting my time and money fixing what I know is wrong with it...

Have a read of your recent post about shifting sofas. Didn't sound as though you'd fallen out of love with your Multi then! :)

Recently, I've come very close to parting company with mine. It's been on a SORN over the winter. However, given a bit of time and space to think about all of the flashy new/other competition, when it comes down to the heart of the matter, none of them do the job any better than the Multi. Most are worse, in fact.

So: Multi is booked in for it's MOT tomorrow morning. We'll see how it fares on that front, then I've got a few things planned for it......

Chin up! :):):)

My Multi has outlived our Scenic. Both 2004 vintage. The Multi has coming up 160k miles on it and is still going strong (near miss with an expiring turbo last year though). The Scenic cost us £1,650 more than the Multi to buy, had a lot less use (it got to 103k miles) and has just gone on, courtesy of running a big end bearing. Certainly more conventional, it felt a bit plusher, a bit quicker, but was far less practical, less mechanically refined, lots harder to work on (apart from the glowplugs ) less fun to drive and less character than the Multi. A whole bucket load more creaks, squeaks and rattles on the Scenic too.

You're so right... Only this morning I was listening to my sister complaining about needing to rely on her boyfriend for getting things to the tip...
