I had a GSR on my old Bravo and it was great.

Can someone help me find the correct tubing etc for connecting a similar kit up to my new one? I'm gonna DIY it this time, i'll just get this filter;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/60mm-Inlet-Universal-Twin-Cone-Air-Box-Filter-Red-/270591305087?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f007fa57f

costs £16.74 for what is essentially the GSR filter.

I just don't know whether the intake piping has to have a diversion going to the turbo too? The GSR tubing for the T-jet has a little pipe coming out of the bigger pipe going away somewhere, but my N/A Bravo didn't have that.

If you are familiar with heat soak, anything under the bonnet made from metal can/does heat up. That very shiny & expensive intake looks like a prime suspect to me.

If you haven't worked it out by now, you don't want any warm air going in the intake for the little gains you may or may not achieve.:D

I'm looking to get something that replicates the GSR exactly which sits where the airbox is behind the wheelarch, away from all the heat.

From experience I would say that you lose power by having too long an intake, but yes defo best to site the cone filter near a cold air intake

Would you consider cutting a nace duct into the bonnet?

I will pop my bonnet tomorrow and have a nose around(y)

There is loads of room to build an induction kit and tbh I can't see the benefit of changing the existing moulded pre turbo pipe, all it needs is a silicone elbow mated to whatever filter you want

The existing air box is a big one and sited well down in the wheel arch

In fact looking at it I don't believe an induction kit will achieve anything, the install is low boost anyway so it's not as if it is intake restricted,

If I was looking at anything it would be the post intercooler piping, the lower rubber hose before the metal pipe looks pretty cheap and may be prone to balooning. Forge offer one for the Punto and I can see why

The main reason I'm wanting an induction kit is for the engine growl. My 90hp Bravo sounded like a muscle car at top revs. Was unbelievable.

I don't think you will get as good an induction noise as such, you might hear the turbo more

Anyway I just been outside and the diameter you need is 70mm bore

I think one of these and some hose clips will do the job

So you will need a dia 70mm bore filter not the 60 you linked to,

Thanks very much mate. Will make use of all those links I'm sure.

Will be done before halloween so I can scare off the ghosts.

Spent a few hours this morning sorting this, most of which was trying the wrestle the existing air box out :bang:

Anyway the results are well worthwhile!
Lovely turbo whistle and chuff when you lift, not dump valve loud but nice and audible

Had to trim an inch off the silicone elbow to get it a nice fit, the CDA fits snugly inside the bumper and just protrudes from the splitter. There is plenty of space to mount the filter and a few choices of mounting positions. I have secured with a cable tie through the arch liner to the filter mounting strap and it isn't going anywhere.

I don't see any advantage in changing the pipe to the turbo, the oe part looks fine.

All in all well worth the effort, perhaps it will be better to mount the filter up higher into the arch to avoid hoovering up puddles though, but that would be at the expense of some of the audible stimulation I reckon

Just taken some pics so will upload
