Hi, I'm getting a 2000 W reg Punto ELX 3d later on this week but the cheapest insurance i can find is £1447 with Adrian Flux. I have no NCD and havn't dont the pass plus course. Can anyone recommend an insurance comany? I've phoned round so many :(

Paid the deposit on saturday. I just got a quote of £1222 from ecarinsurance.co.uk. Feeling a little better.

Welcome to my world, i am havng the same problems!!

i have spent 6 hours now today gettoing quotes! try these few:

moneysupermarket
confused.com
ladybird
MINT (These were by far the best for me, no one can beat the quote)

I thought you had to have a full license for at least a couple years before mint would insure you?

I'd say have a look at confused.com, then follow the links for the ones they don't cover (tesco, elephant and directline i think), write down the best quotes, then go down to any local brokers and see what they have to say :)

I would seriously reccomend you take a close look at the interest rates if you're going to pay monthly. Next year I'll be paying it off in one go hopefully as it makes a HUGE difference!

Done Confused, >£2000
Money supermarket, cant remember
Ladybird, women only
mint, £1988

to be fair when i first past my test and got the panda so i had 0 0 claims i was 17 and only been driving 3 months and my insurance on that was 1200, so to be hoenst if you look at it that way 1500 aint that bad!

just have to pay it montly! orrr get some one else to be the named driver and u be the second driver if you really cant afford it. places like direct line let you earn your own no claims bonus too doing it that way.

I should be OK, I can pay it monthly with my Maintenance Loan from uni, I just have to talk it over with my dad. I've said I'll pay for it but he wont listen

Be careful with that I nearly got caught out trying to "cheat" the system, and had to go fully comp under my own name. It says in the small print you are only allowed to drive the car a maximum number of hours or days a week and that if the 1st person (the main driver) is not really the main driver (and people have been caught) they can fine you 1000's for breaking the law and lying, not to mention invalidating your insurance.

As soon as I tried that on the phone the woman said to my mother "sorry but we think you're not the main driver of this car as you already have another and you're trying to get it cheap for your son!"

Try it the other waya round :D You will be suprised, add an older name driver, mum/dad, uncle, friend etc. Im 25 with 6yrs NCD, driving 8 years...i added my mum as a named driver and dropped £40ish on a ~£300 quote.

Got told off in another thread for suggesting that the never need to drive the car at all....but you give them the entitlement too if they want to and you save £££..

Best way to see a difference is add the named driver to confused....some charge a bit more, some charge less...willing to bet overall you get a cheaper quote though (y)

Wooops, sorry I forgot about that one :chin: I'll have to try that myself... Oh and by the way I wasn't telling anyone off just making a suggestion as I nearly found out the hard way ;)

If your going down the put it in a parents name route go with liverpool victoria :). I was 17 my dad was 46 with no points convictions and 0 NCB and it was £657 Full comp :) on a Wreg 1.2 8v Punto Mk2. Results may vary of course ;).

Thats pretty good. Although you wouldn't earn no claims. I'm sorted now anyway, and I should be picking the car up later today (y)
