General 500 doorhandles

Just a quick one. Has anyone else had a problem with the chromed door handles? Just had the girlfriends into the main dealer because the handle has snapped where it pivots against the door. Quoted at £103 the guy mentioned they have had a few with the same problem just wondered if it was a known fault.

The hinge is secured to the handle by a self tapping screw driven in at an angle. The hinge pin in the middle is just a loose fit held in by the sides of the body (it couldnt drop out). The part that attaches to the door is a strong metal bolt.

I paid £38.00 total per handle in 2010. They are stamped as Valeo and are very good quality the metal parts are very dense.

I've had driver's door handle changed under warranty as it was sticking, but that was from the inside mind you
