Standard Fiat lower springs

I just found out that Fiats own springs lower the HGT 30mm on the front and 20mm on the back. Is that gonna be enough? I have 17" wheels on it. I just want to hide the small gap thats left. Has anyone else lowered theirs this much?

Cheers
Al.

40 mm drop

i droped my by 40mm on 17's about 9 months ago , so far no problems even with 2 people in the back.

Re: 40 mm drop

Anyone got any tips on where to get a cheap set (40m) from. Do I need just springs or shocks and all that, I dont know how it all works.

40mm drop

f.fwd motorsport do a set of 40mm springs for around £85, i've got these fitted with the standard dampers and the ride seems fine.

Re: 40mm drop

Ive just fitted apex 40mm shocks and springs 2day.

The ride is going to take a lot of getting used to.

Handles like a cart now though :)

Re: Re: 40mm drop

Core the Fiat springs are the same as the Eibach springs which I have on my HGT with 17's.
I'll find a pic for you.
The handlings much better, but looks wise could do better.

quality looks...

i think your car looks quality looks wise mate, once its lowered on 17's, does the car sit at about the same height as it does not lowered on standard 15" alloys or?

Drop

I am using a KONI Sports Shocks, a Coupe Turbo VT Plus 16" rims and B&G Coils 40mm drop. The front part tyre scrubbing the wheel arch. The front, changed back to original coil springs and the rear maintain the sports coil springs.

At the moment, the spacing between the tyre and front wheel arch are the same as Si's car as per his pictures. Why? Si, what shocks are you using?

Regards,

Re: Drop

Ok, these are before and after pictures on the standard 15's.

Re: Re: Drop

Si?

I have a black HGT MK11 running on 17" rims as you are. Im trying to lose the gap between the rim and arch - my worry is that the standard fiat spring wont lower it enough. Im concidering 40mm?

Ahhh - What to do?

Re: Re: Re: Drop

Al, I'm not happy with the 30mm drop on mine, but it's too much difficulty to change them at the moment.
Definately go for the 40mm drop!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Drop

Si,

Cheers mate you,ve made up my mind - 40mm it is.

Thanx
Al.

50mm

use some gmax 50mm springs like i have. looks a treat and handles really well. only problem is when i go over any kind of lumps in the road and the car goes like a jelly fish. probably fine if you dont have to drive on shitty cumbrian roads every day like i do!
