celtic tuning will superchip your ECU for you, £295 but you have to send them your ECU, power gains: 13BHP 13lbft

a decat seems like a good idea to myself i'm going to be trying it.

a free flow exhaust should do some more good and a BMC CDA should dring you up to about the 180bhp mark i believe, might be a little under though:yum:

A little bit optimistic in your figures there Bulldog! A chip, exhaust, and filter will probably see you at about 165BHP on a good day. The N/A does sound good on full chat with a decent exhaust and filter ;)

celtic tuning were claiming 170bhp from their bravo 147 with viper induction, superchip and freeflow...... i can dream :p

i will be happy as long as i get it close to 180bhp i dont think its impossable atall, the decat should do it some real good but maybe 10bhp is a bit optimistic, sorry

dont agree. the exhaust is pretty good to start, so an increase here will not be big. what it needs is a proper remap and an adjustable fuel pressure valve fitting, free flow filter, and sport cat fitting. the decat solution is still on the grey side. some mot stations will fail you if no cat fitted. some will pass it !!! too many tuning companies are claiming false high figures for a reason, and thats to buy there wares. a proper calibrated rolling road does not tell lies unlike some companies out there :)

I dont have any experiance with fiat 20v but look for cams probably
268deg (fast road)

Why not fit a Supercharger to a N/A Coupe? Either an Eaton [roots] Screw or Centrafugal type as on VW's? Can add 50% to a coupe engine for little money. Eaton chargers are going for about £100!! Eaton is a blower, and Screw and Centrafugal are compressers. Would make an interesting project!!!!

VW stopped doing superchargers and started with turbos as very minimal wear will have a big effect on performance and reliability (was a good documentary on recently).
Save all the faff and get a 20VT.

Iam amazed the supercharger is not used more in this country as an aftermarket tuning item. They are reliable, easy to maintain, and if you lower your CR correctly and fit a proper intercooler to eliminate detonation, give great results. And best of all, you do not get high temps off it like you do a turbo.!!

There was a GB on for C+B cams for the coupe, I think it's about £500. However they only give about 10 BHP on the turbo so god only knows what benefit it would be to an N/A.

N/A cams and Turbo cams differ in design greatly. The Coupe engine is not bad in the first place. You might get from a N/A cam upgrade more power. Also the Coupe airbox is very good. Replacing it by a CDA is a waste of money. With the right cam, replacement filter element, exhaust and proper re-map you should see in excess of 180bhp.

N/A air filter box is restrictive. Just fitted a 571 K&N to a mates 20v coupe and it now hits the rev limiter very easily as before it was reluctant to rev beyond 6000 revs. So its picked up airflow at higher revs. The sound it makes with the nice SS exhaust at both ends, is glorious!! (y) (y)

That would be to eliminate pre-detonation - eliminating detonation wouldn't be very desirable! :p :D

Oh dear. please get THE facts right please. We in the UK call it Detonation. Americans call it Pre-detonation. Hope that clears things up.;)

Andy.

I think the term you are looking for is pre-ignition, which is also called detonation but is not quite the same thing.
