General 26 mpg school run

This is what my wifes car (petrol version) is getting mpg wise on the school trip . Is this normal as my 328i Touring gets the same?

On a petrol, then I would say yes - we don't get much more on our 2.2JTD Ulysse - short runs, from cold, in slow traffic aren't exactly efficient.
