hi, i have recentley finished rebuilding my coupe 20v turbo engine, however it will not start, the injector light on the dash comes on when i try to start the engine. can anybody help? the battery has been disconnected from the car for about a month and i know there is a superchip inthe ECU, but would this affect the injectors?

Before anything else.

disconnect the battery.
close car up manually ensure boot bonnet and doors are all closed and locked for security.
leave for about 1 hour.
return pop bonnet and shut drivers door after doing so.
connect battery and shut the bonnet.
on battery connection the alarm might sound...
Now use the remote locking and put the locks up and down a few times on the final one put the locks in the unlocked position.
get in the car and start.

ok, ill have to try that when i get home, as im at work at the moment. have you had similar problems with your coupe then? seems weird how the injectors are the only thing that wont work! would have thought the ignition would have been cutoff aswell?

Mine did exactly this when I changed my own clutch.

Have since helped someone else with the exact same advice as written above. :)

It might not be the cause, but is definately worth a try before looking for cam sensors etc. :)

By disconnecting the battery for an hour you basically reset the ecu. It should reset imobilliser codes.

ok thanx, ill definatley try that when i get home, As the battery has been disconnected for the last month do u think that it may have reset itself already, and because of this it no longer recognizes the superchip?

Doubt the superchip will be an issue as it is loosly based on the stock chip.

It is common that if the battery is connected and a door is open that it trips the system into thinking the car is under threat and so the immobiliser kicks in and shuts off the fuel pump this triggers the engine management light which looks like an injector. This light covers all the sensors and is not specific to the injectors.
This is why it is important to make sure the car is all shup up whilst reconnecting battery, then shut bonnet and blip the remote locking a few times.

ok, thanks for all your help, ill give it a go and let u know how i get on!!

Tried doing what was suggested, it didn't work. run through the process a few times but didn't make any difference. do u have any other suggestions?

If the crank sensor is not sending a signal, the pump relay and pump will not run.
Check for a signal, check juice to and from relay and wiring at pump.

remember the "injector light" is actually the engine management light. it does not neccessarily mean there is a problem with the fuel injection, any fault noticed by the ecu will bring the light on (and hopefully log a fault code in the ecu which you can use to find the fault).

since you have rebuilt the engine i would expect a sensor is unplugged, incorrectly fitted or there is a wiring fault. check everything over, and if that fails get a diagnostic check done.

is there a key sign staying up on dash as well as the injection light cos my coupe did this and found that the key was not recognised in the ignition if u have the red key use that if the car starts reprogramme the blue keys by putting the red key in the ignition and turning the ignition on then turn it off and do the same with the 2 blue keys and then put red key in and do the same then wait one minute and try to start hope fully the code light should go out if the vehicle still dont start u might have a faulty code system which will get very expensive cos u will need a new code ecu and engine ecu if u have no red key or code card it could cost u up to 1000 to fix. good luck anyway let us know how it goes.

HI MIGHT SOUND A LITTLE DAFT BUT DID YOU KNOCK OR DID YOU BY MISTAKE AUTOMATICALLY SET THE FUEL CUT OFF SWITH OFF!! WHICH IN TURN WILL SHUT ALL FUEL OFF....

I ALSO HAD THE INJECTOR LIGHT COME ON MINE AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING LIKE DOG S@:T.

I PULLED OVER AND GAVE IT A GOOD FEW REVS WHICH SORTED IT OUT. MY PROBLEM WAS THAT I HAD RUN SHORT ON KANGROO JUICE AND MUST OF SUCKED SOME ****E UP. BLEW THE CRAP OUT AND ALL WAS AND HAS BEEN FINE
