Technical 2020 Ducato 140 2.3 6 Speed Gearbox problem.

I stupidly tried to select reverse without using the clutch and got a loud crunching of gears and a clunk.

Now the gearbox or bell housing sounds like it has a metal object bouncing around inside when in neutral.

The noise goes away when the clutch is depressed.

Has anyone had a similar fault or know what it could be.

Does sound like gearbox overhaul , tooth of laygear or similar.
