Hi Guys,

Car stood with a flat battery for a few days while brake work etc was done in the workshop.

It now drives fine though I think the battery isn't very good so shall get a new one.

Problem is the miliage on the odometer flashes all the time and there is an airbag light with 'x2' in it illuminated all the time.

Upon scan the airbags are all clear show no code, odd. I do have:

u173387 ctm (convergence telematic module) - missing message.

As a stored fault code that won't delete. People talk about proxy alignment, I do have Fiatecuscan but wanted to see if anyone else had dealt with it before I go in there.

Thanks, Greg.

Re: 2012 1.3d Flashing Mileage and Airbag light on

Hi Greg,

I had that on my Qubo a couple of weeks before p/xing it for my current car. Garage man spotted the flashing odo on the test drive and he agreed (or I did..) to split the repair bill with me on the p/ex allowance.
From memory it's the Blue & Me box under the driver's seat that loses link with the computer (?) and no amount of suggested fixes worked for me but try - disconnect the battery, hold the leads together to dump any current in the car's electrics then reconnect to the battery and see if that works..
Also suggested was removing the plug from the B&Me box and leaving it to drain down for 30 mins before reconnecting. (Fiat garage suggestions) None worked for me so it's a new or recon box at a price  Some kind of built-in failure as nobody could tell me what fails or why, just that it does. Yeah great.

Hi,
If you have Fiatecuscan then it is very out of date and probably a ripped-off copy. The current software from the same author is Multiecuscan www.multiecuscan.net Do the right thing and get a licence, at €50 it's bargain.
I take it you have talked to the garage about the issue? Really they should sort it out if the fault wasn't there before it went in to them. I assume it's not a Fiat specialist?

Hi,

Thanks, I have full Multiecuscan genuine I just call it that as I remember it as the original name. I own the garage, it was sat for a little bit while I found time to do my brakes.

I will let you all know what happens when I get back on it, probably tomorrow. Solved the airbag light, somehow passenger airbag was disabled in the dash menu, sorted now.

Ok thanks for your help guys.

I carried out a proxy alignment (which is a terrible name, on every other car it's described properly as refreshing the canbus installation list, this looks across the can bus and interrogates everything that responds and then writes them into a complete list of installed modules. Thereafter it directly communicates with only the modules it knows are there and doesn't waste time going looking or throwing fault codes for others it can't find) and noticed that the CTM module (which should really be called the bluetooh ECU but there we go...) was listed as previously on the canbus and now removed. EG possible it failed.

The proxy alignment didn't help, the CTM was still not in the list however somehow the Can gateway knew it was there. I tried to connect to the CTM directly, failure.

Concluding the ECU was damaged, I unplugged it. Proxy alignment success, CTM now missing off the list but no errors no flashing odometer, just the windows button doesn't work.

I couldn't find the exact same p/n ecu but I managed to order one about a year older, looks the same, number similar but a bit earlier.

I will install and proxy align see what happens, then update it.

Does anyone know why this slightly earlier unit I bought has a USB port on the side of it? My one doesn't, other than that it looks identical.

Hi Greg, Its worth leaving Blue & Me ECU disconnected as it flattens bat (will not s/w off and draws 250mA all the time) I have the same problem on mine. I'm going to disconnect and fit separate Blue tooth for the phone. As I had the same problem with my camper van Boxer which is actually a Ducato and fitted second hand Blue and me which lasted about 5 months. So this time it's getting chucked. A new one is about £500+vat.

Derek

Okay quick update guys, I got a 2nd hand module with the slightly earlier number of 51867602 (mine started 519) and did the proxy alignment. It coded in fine. I then cleared the memory, did the update through a usb drive and pared my phone.

Everything works, all good.

Also my battery doesn't go flat :)
