So last summer I bought a 2010 1.6 petrol Doblo car, because I wanted a car that would double up as a van. Mileage at the time of purchase was just over 23,000. I have a small part-time business, so need a large flexible space in my car. Also, I have osteoarthritis and I need a car with upright seats. The Doblo is perfect on all fronts. It was a private purchase.
Within 40 miles, driving it home, the accelerator pedal stuck open. Scary! It kept sticking, intermittently, for the next few weeks. I consulted the Fiat forums and concluded that I was unlucky.
Then it stuck in a busy London street. Even more scary!
My local dealership changed the throttle pedal in November 2014. It carried on sticking.
Last Tuesday, on a 360 mile round trip to buy new stock, it stuck 15 times on the M5, once in the outside lane at 70 mph. Mega scary!
It's now at the dealers again, and they are doing something to the butterfly valve(?) I'm not a mechanic! I love the car, but it's now starting to scare me just driving it round town. I'm picking up my grandson next weekend, to stay for a few days. Will it be safe on the M40 and M6?
