Well, I have done only just over 1,000 miles since my last service, and I have been noticing my engine being quite noisy.
It's like a tappy/ticky noise on idle. And if I put my foot on accelerator to about 2thousand revs, it's like a fast tappy noise.

Checked oil levels etc, everything is fine, oil that was last put in car was 10w/40 synthetic .

Anyone give me any tips what could be causing this.

Car has done 44.000 miles

Thanks

Jonathan

Go back to the the garage and have them listen.. My guess would be the hydraulic valve lifters... Or something starved from oil..

Hopefully it will be something simple, but on my old car an astra it had a similar noise and it turned out the oil path ways were blocked and my camshaft was starved of oil. Had to have it replaced as well as the hydraulic lifters etc. At a cost of. £500 and that was through a friend of a friend so I've got my fingers crossed for you!:|

How do the oil pathways get blocked? Surely this wouldn't happen at 40k miles unless there was possible gunk from failing headgasket blocking them?

Also surely if the camshaft was starved of oil it would result in massively degraded performance?

Also if it was the valve lifters wouldn't you see huge performance drop too as optimal combustion in the chambers would not be occuring?

p.s basically take it to a garage lol.

Can't view the video atm

Alternator or ac pump (if fitted) if you don't have the drain pipe mod done it could be dumping water on either washing the grease out the bearings

Don't know how mechanically minded you are i would pop the auxiliary belt off and start it and see if noise goes away nb this will throw on the battery and probably the pas light

Mate, just listened to mine closely, makes exactly same noise, the ticky noise. Must just be a feature of the engine? It's absolutely bob on, too.

Maybe stop being so paranoid!? Haha.
