Hey,

My missus has a 2001 Seicento SX (1108 MPi).

Wicked little car, I've done various jobs on it over the last 18 months or so, but now its developed a nice knocking noise from the rear suspension, which after reading this forum and having a play with the car, I've worked out is the rear swinging arm bushes.

Whereabouts can I get these from? I've heard that you can get Powerflex polybushes, but that they might not fit because they only do them for the Cinq....is that right?

I don't suppose Fiat stock them seperately, or would I have to buy the whole arm?

Also - where is the best bet for quality ignition leads? Is it Fiat?

Thanks!

Tom

I would stick with Fiat OE leads unless you are going for something a bit special. The magnecors are a lot of money to pay for an arguable increase in smoothness. I got a set of new but ordered by accident leads for £20 a couple of years back, now use them on the Sei 16v, just to aid reliability although like any lead they deteriorate with time.

You can get them from ebay or shop4parts on line but most aftermarket autoplaces will stock them you can get the bushes on there own but need to remove the sleave so need to be inivotive ;) or have a proper press (the cheap option £15 or so) or the compleate arms are pushing £100

If you are planning on keeping the car for a good while then you can fit polly bushes bit of a pia to change (see changing bushes) but once fitted then you can virtually forget about them, and if they do wear a doddle to change

The cinq and sei bushes are IDENTICAL, I'll put my life on it ;) I even emailed powerflex, but they didn't listen to me

You need to cut or press out the old ones, and then if OEM, press them back in.

Its not much more ££, but a total DIY job if you go powerflex. Plus they last longer, give better feel etc.

I can't believe anyone would even consider replacing with OEM bushes to be honest (unless they were replacing the entire arm), unless they have a big press in their garage.

Wicked, thanks for all the advice everyone!

Incidentally, I do have a hydraulic press in my garage, but if there is an alternative then I think I'll be going polybushed! Both my Mini and Polo are polybushed where there are still bushes, so I understand how they work :)

As for the leads, I''ll go OEM, the more standard the better really, thanks again!

Brilliant, thanks for the link Kristian!

Have just read through your entire 1368cc 16V project thread and I'm getting ideas for the Seicento now!!

I've already done a 1391cc Golf engine conversion on my Polo GT, and a year ago I converted my 1978 Mini Clubman to a 1598cc Vauxhall engine so the conversion idea isn't new to me - and its good to see people doing it with Fiats as well!

Just need to convince the missus.... :)
