To get my induction kit on my 1.8 HLX, all i have done is take toe cold air feed unit (big black long thing?) off, and bolted the induction kit to the little peice if pipe that comes up from the right hand side of the engine bay.

I did this on friday and so far i havent had any problems, it sounds amazing and i am really pleased with it but i just want to know if any1 thinks this will create any problems in the future.

(P.S. I have left the standard filter in the filter housing, and yes Tom it does have a cold air feed. Fuel consumption is much the same)

Cheers Chaps,

you wonder if what will cause any problems in the future?

Picture?

Now maybe its just my brain being jetlagged but it sounds like you've put the induction kit on the cold air feed to the existing airbox.

Yeah ive taken the actual intake off the front of the engine bay, and bolted the filter to the cold air feed pipe that goes to the existing air box?

The car has been fine ever since, and the induction kit sounds brilliant, i just want to make sure this wont create any problems in the future?

So you have a K&N cone filter flowing loads of air into your standard "restrictive" airbox? What is the point of this? Fit it properly and deal with getting cool air to it or take it off and put a panel filter in.

does any 1 know what a replacment filter element (the ones made by k and n) do? or is it just an expensive new air filter that does the same as the original?

you said it !

Theyre pretty pointless unless you do other engine work.. im guilty though

imho an uprated panel filter is worth it, they are cheap, last forever and filter better than OEM ones if looked after properly. it will pay for itself in 2 services.

ps i'm going out for a fag now, one filter isnt enough so im going to tape another one over the end :eek:P

>So you have a K&N cone filter flowing loads of air into your standard "restrictive" airbox?

You seem to fail to understand a few basics of physics, such as the filter will only 'flow' as much air as the engine needs. Nothing is forcing air into the engine.

Plus the stock induction system isn't that bad.

Tom, I was trying to point out that connecting a so called high flow filter to the standard filter was not going to make any difference. I realise there is not going to be a ram air effect just from fitting a filter. Also, I saw in previous posts that the standard airbox is pretty good and that's why I highlighted the word restrictive.

I hope this post isn't taken the wrong way. :)
