My Ducato has a problem with creaky suspension passenger side so got underneath today to check it out and found nothing, but to my surprise I did find a void in the gearbox, its not a hole that's been made by a stone or anything its perfectly rectangular! Question is, is it supposed to have a gromit of some kind in it and if so where can I get one asap?
Cheers Rich..

If you're talking about the big hole on top it supposed to have a plastic cap its under a tenner from the dealer

Ok so I'm guessing my gearbox has a hole that's not supposed to be there? has anybody got a pic of a 2.8jtd gearbox from underneath I can study please? Also the creaking is a lot worse now really sounds like a suspension creak but after inspecting yesterday cannot find a thing out of place or perished etc!! The gears are perfect and still drives perfect but obviously there is something as this creaking has only come on in last week or so!! Any help or suggestions appreciated!
Cheers Rich..

My 2.8jtd motorhome has an 'inspection slot' as well and by looking at the rusty clutch coverplate there hasn't been one from new!
Bought a full under engine guard from ebay to stop the weather getting underneath and rotting the xmember and sump as well.

Did you get the HDPE one or the ABS one, was torn between which one to get, abs is brittle but you can repair it, hdpe is tough but difficult to weld/repair

I'm pretty sure it's HDPE by the feel of it.
It fits very well and stops all the crud underneath. You have to remove the N/S cambelt cover as the underguard incorporates this as well.
Discovered that FIAT use metric fine threads for the cover retaining bolts for some reason? Will send you the ebay link if you need it.

Thanks link would be great I think the bulkhead bolts are the same thread and have large washers built in I have a bunch of those.

The one I bought isn't currently showing on a well known online auction site but you can contact the seller on '[email protected]'
It was auction number 321123294499
He was very helpful when I contacted him about the underguard for Ducato 2002/06 models and think it cost about £60 inc delivery.
Postman couldn't get it through the letterbox though.
