Hi Everyone

Sorry I'm new to both fiat and forums so please bear with me.

Just bought my 2003 stilo abarth and it has a few minor problems ( I hope they're minor!!)

1. Judders when it pulls off in 1 st gear wether cold or warm engine.
2. Kangaroos in slow traffic eg slowing down for traffic lights traffic islands etc. again when it goes into 1 st gear.
3. Doesn't hold on hills without using handbrake. Anyone got any ideas as to causes would be grateful of help. Not a DIY er so will be garage for repairs, just want some idea of problem beforehand. Thanks

Sounds normal to me. It wont hold on a hill because the selespeed gearbox is a manual gearbox technically, i think the technical term is manumatic, it wont engage the clutch unless the accelerator is pressed, with your foot off the accelerator on a hill its technically in neutral and will roll backwards.

As for jerky behaviour, my abarth does the same thing, you get used to it, over time you will adjust your driving to lessen that effect, I barely notice it any more.

Thanks Deedscali, that's very reassuring thought I'd bought a pig in a poke as the saying goes.

Hope I can get used to it as I love it, it just felt right from the off.

No worries mate,

remember that beast of an engine loves to go right up the rev range, so dont short shift, unless your trying to be economical, I would assume that buying an abarth your not trying to be economical though :)

Push it right up the range, that engine is built for that and have fun!

1 - potentially a worn clutch or air in the hydraulic system
2 - As above
3 - It isn't designed to hold on hills without the handbrake, so keep using the handbrake like you would with any other car (y)
