Technical 1998 Scudo 1.9td / fuel filter location + engine code?

Hey all, just bought a cheapy van from a mates dad and I have given it abit of a tidy up and a service just got the fuel filter left to change, but I am not really sure where to look?!
It is a 1998 Fiat Scudo 1.9td. Also, am I right thinking the engine code for this is xud9? I can't find much infomation on this engine or any guides anywhere.

I found a picture on google images of an engine which looks the same as mine, was hoping somebody could help show me where this fuel filter is before I take the wrong thing apart. I 'think' it is the part to the right of the oil filler/dipstick with 4 screws and a 'dome' top.. but not 100% sure so would just like abit of reassurance if possible.

Ok just an update to answer my own question incase anybody in the future wonders the same.


The fuel filter is the unit with a slightly domed top to the right of the dipstick (behind the plug with blue tape around in the picture) secured by x4 allen key bolts.


Very easy to do but I would suggest to have a rag handy (ideally wrapped underneath the assembly for the filter housing) as a fair bit of diesel came out when I took the top off.


The old filter was really dirty so think its job well done, however its untested as still need to put oil in and connect the battery back on.
Just hoping I do not need to re-pressurise the system and wondering if I should of filled diesel back inside the filter before I put it back together? Hoping it will be fine but will find out tomorrow lets see if she runs
