Howdy all, so im in portugal and helping my dad with his punto, and yes its a auto transmission. So, about a few months ago, it started not shifting out of 1st, foot all the way down and there would be no power on a incline, even on a slight incline. Down hill no probably catching speed but would still not shift out of first. I did a little research, oil level was fine, so I was going to check the filter and the solenoid, (if it has solenoids) read that could be the issue. Upon removing the pan and the oil filter, there it was a broken piece. And looking and playing with it, it is definitely the culprit. Not sure if I can find this individual but it would seem so. Any help, much appreciated!

Hello,

Looks like steel. I'd try to weld it :)

Finding parts of a rare gearbox of a 27 years old car might be problematic.

On the bottom of the forum banner you'll find a link to ePER. It's a FIAT spare parts catalogue. Search window is top left, you can browse by models and categories or search with the VIN of the vehicle, but I'm not sure if it's database is that old.

I did take it to several shops about welding, 1 shop said it was treated metal and they would have to untreat it and that would risk breakage, the other shops were very hesitant due to size and thickness.
I have since found a whole granny and ordered it. Might just replace the piece and save the tranny for parts. Unfortunately I don't have the work place to do a swap nor the tools here.
